When my blood pressure subsided to somewhere normal , I though of quite a few athletes who I thought deserved that accolade before Murray ! Cheers. Jason Kenny , GBs most decorated Olympian , must admit i had to google it , ive heard of him but i never realised how successful he was
chartpolski 23,322
To further muddy the waters ; anyone remember Zola Budd and more recently Sir Mo Farah ? Both “British “ athletes, but really neither were or are British ! One is as white as me; the other as black as Newgates knocker, as Boycie would say, but they were both AFRICANS ! One South African, the other Somali. So, Is Daley Thompson more British than Zola Budd ? A quagmire, ain’t it ? Cheers.

Budd acquired British citizenship via ancestry claims on her grandfather's side, I'd say Thompson has more right to claim he's a Brit.

It’s like footballers who are “English” and play in the under 21’s until they realise they won’t make the grade up to the senior team, then suddenly have a Scot’s granny and then they are “Scot’s” and play for Scotland ! LOL ! Cheers.

I was once on a flight and the passengers included Daley Thompson, Malcolm Macdonald, Brendan Foster and other athletes, they had been playing a charity football game at Gateshead Stadium, they were part of an England team. It was only a short flight, Newcastle - London, but I had a chat with them and Daley came across as a very nice, down to Earth bloke. Cheers.

He competed a bit before my time but from I gather he does seem decent sort. We had some good athletes back in the 80's didn't we, and not all black for the easily triggered. You never hear of him after his drugs scandal, he was supposedly shafted or so it says on the documentary.
