chartpolski 23,101
I don’t know , but trying to understand the legal maze, I think, and I emphasis, I only think, the age of criminal responsibility is 10, but “ children” under the age of 18 are afforded anonymity and certain legal protections AT THE DISCRETION OF THE JUDGE. It would appear the Judge in this case lifted the anonymity clause at the request of the press because of “ intense public interest’. But as I say, that’s just how I understand it . Cheers.

Pressure from the Media and the fact he turns 18 in 6 days time.

Which is what happened to the Bulger killers, they were also tried in an adult court.

jukel123 7,957
I've just been looking at the sentencing for offences carried out during the 2011 riots. A 23 year old with no previous convictions .....six months for stealing bottles of water costing £3.50. A 22 year old sentenced to 16 months for stealing ice cream. A 48 year old sentenced to sixteen months for stealing doughnuts. A woman given six months for accepting stolen property...a pair of shorts. The average sentence was 17.1 months and in total 18000 years for 2158 offenders. Two teenagers were give four years apiece for planning a riot which never took place. Starmer was the public prosecutor then. He's top man now. Expect the state to take excessive, vindictive revenge. People in Southport were protesting about a lack of decency and morality in modern Britain, together with a level of shock as to why small children and others were murdered. It was a spontaneous WTF moment. They should be treated judiciously, instead they will be hammered and made an example of. I don't include the rent a thugs who just turned up to attack anything and frightened the lives out of local residents. They added to the grief of Southport. The rioter who was hit by friendly fire involving bricks to the head and to the balls should be given the Benny Hill medal for comedy. He is a national hero, cheered us all up.
