chartpolski 23,046
500 yard slips on lamped rabbits. Ten minute courses on hares. Walking 30 mile a night when lamping. And kids doing track times that would have a coach drooling….. Thats what makes us British “Great” ! PMSL ! Cheers.

I remember TM. Marine, firefighter, champion chess player, undefeated pro. A nightmare for opponents. Some people are born with just muscle, sinew, balance and coordination. He was one.

.357shooter 1,177
funny thing the internet because what i could do well before smart phones were even about i can not prove what i did and all the teachers at my school are dead so i have no proof of what i could do.as usual though because someone who was not there can tell someone else they did not do what they did actually do even though they were not there and have no idea what they are talking about.bit like telling people they can not shoot well even though when you provide proof these same types will tell you you are wrong.must be my fault for still believing people are honest and there is no trust left.so it did not happen it was all in my head and i was not very bloody gifted.just one more thing even though i am talking out of my arse and making this up if you train for the 100m and you run the bend instead of the straight the inside lane will win.you just get it in your head you are running a shorter distance. It works both ways though mate. I'm not ignorant enough to believe someone else couldn't be a better athlete than myself. Yes I won lot when I was a youngster but as I said, me, my brother and cousin used to act about more at training than we did train. So I imagine a youngster with his head switched on and training their arse off could hit some impressive times, at that's not even taking to account the possibility of a youngster hitting puberty early. WILF 46,549
Point is, athletics was very big round my way what with Fatima Whitbread being a top star and having a fairly well established athletics club that my pal was part of and who wanted her to go on the bigger and better things…..but she just decided that model/actress was what she wanted to do, had to wait to 18 but the job offers were all in place. She was single minded about it, just gos to show not everyone has that sporting drive.

Havent spoken to Terry in years he was always a bit of an oddball character, bit socially awkward etc ....im told he's even worse nowadays, conspiracy theorist/wannabe politician type Years ago a lot of local fighters all different ages did the same few runs it was seen as a gym bonding type of thing,we would all start off in one big group and after a while break off into little groups dependant on the chit chat.....you'd always see people drifting away from Terry to the point he'd be literally talking to himself....and then would come a sudden burst of speed way out in front to disguise the fact nobody wanted to talk to him with a " im too fit for you lot " attitude.....which to be fair he was ! I remember he talked himself out of a dream fight with Hector Camacho that would of made him millions....the press conference was done, terms were agreed......but Camacho and his camp just ended up walking away before anything was signed as Terry just couldnt keep his mouth shut all the time ....strange character.
