The Olympics is genuinely one of the milestone events you align to that era of your life The fact that the Paris organisers have denigrated that spirit should never be forgotten imho 30 minutes ago, TOMO said: Did you time it with a sundial... For me you have to look past the political angles they are using sport for same with the footie......whatever is attracting a lot of eyes will be used to make political points you'd be cutting off your nose to spite your face by refusing to watch it for that reason. Its a bit like the Eurovision song contest id imagine that was a legit singing contest at one point but now they've made a mockery of it....maybe the Olympics is heading the same way.

TBF mate I didn't even watch the opening ceremony, truth be told I've watched about a days worth of Olympics this year, it just seems dead & flat.
chartpolski 23,480
My pal, who is no longer with us, Lee Evans, was without doubt one of the greatest 400 metre runners ever, won Olympic Gold at 400 and at 4 x400 relay. Also held the world records in both disciplines for over twenty years. I asked him how he was at 100 metres; he said he was useless, even at his best he couldn’t break 10:20. He said it was basically watching the others in the 400 for the first 200 then BAM ! Explode for the final 200 ! He also said you breath in before the gun goes in the 100 and only breathe out once during the race, but you breath in and out twice during the 400. A very interesting man to talk to . Cheers.
