While its good to wait until your bitch is proven. It's then when do you need a pup. There is also finding proper homes for the spare pups.

There never seems to be a right time. I missed the boat with the bitch I have here, now 10 this year and she just got better and better. I'm now gutted that I never took a litter from her.

I have since had two pups gifted to me from separate litters. Both never met my expectations, sadly. Both were from proven parents and were given more than 2 years, they just didn't work out. That is nearly 5 years of wasted training, feeding and most of all time.

It's a difficult one, I had the chance and chose not to, now I am gutted.

I did it with my old Bitch mate that’s why I’m not missing it again , I did have in back of my head this pointer x bitch would be better than her mentor , she’s a lot bigger strong and robust compared to my old bitch so I think she’s definitely the better one to line , just finding the right dog

Another handy thing with having a litter from something in it's prime if that litter doesn't work for some reason or it has a bump young you can try again out of her
