Does anyone know the criteria when applying for security job's and is it an enhanced DBS check as I have got a criminal record for poaching offences and other offences. I know they do in the care sector it being one of the reasons I have never thought about trying to get into care work or work for the NHS even though my last court appearance was 30 years ago.

That will all be well expired now mate, won’t matter a f**k I wouldn’t think.

Cheers mate . I have thought about doing an enhanced DBS check off my own back if it's possible to see what came back only other convictions i have is for criminal damage that came about due to a run in with some keeper's and ABH  both in my early 30s.

I had to have enhanced DBS when I worked in schools and also to coach football.

I got my ticket for a rifle no bother when I was still in uk.

None of my shenanigans as a younger bloke came up or made a blind bit of difference, in fact I forgot some and the firearms officer reminded me and even had the mug shot with him.

No bother, they are pretty sensible about this stuff mate.

I know it’s totally different but when applying for SGC & Firearms nothing is spent, first time I applied about 15 year ago I was being interviewed and something came up that I thought was spent and much to the delight of my kids who were earoleing,   they found out that there dad dragged a bloke through a plate glass window who was giving it the big un because he thought he was safe, ahh the exuberance of youth lol, good luck @tatsblisters you will be fine mate and good on you for changing your work life a change sometimes isn’t a bad thing.

Mate you’ll be fine I had a very colourful youth including several stints in Borstal and jail have passed an enhanced dbs in the care home I work as long as your upfront tell them you had things in your younger days but be a bit vague you are an adult now and it’s all good, half the stuff had disappeared probably due to the old paper filing systems not being added to the digital era and by the time the results come through you should have made a good impression with the people who employ you, you can only fail at things you don’t try

Caught with your beggars down in the Leopard enclosure pal?

You'll have no problem mate, I had standard DBS for certain things and got my SIA no problem and had to have an enhanced one for my last job.

If all your offences are in the distant past (and none of them are in a very long list of possible crimes, mostly unheard of 🙄) you'll get in no problem.

I think I have been done for about a dozen (non motoring) offences but got mine straight away.

Good luck for the boring 12 hour night shifts 😁

Cheers, D.

Yeh going to kip can be embarrassing...one chap who was doing it same place I was but on a different day...was woken up one morning by the staff literally shaking him he was curled up in a sleeping bag and pillow....now if this wasn't bad enough there was more to come...the office behind him had been broken in to and some laptops and other bits and bobs had been nicked ...obviously he got sack...

I nodded of while I was standing on the door of a club 😳. I'd been on the move for over 24 hours , I leaned back on the door frame for a minute , and the next thing was the other door lad nudging me , saying f***ing wake up 😄.
