Is it just me but I groan when I get an invitation to a wedding. Hotel costs, wedding gifts, new outfit for the Mrs, plus outrageous bill for a round of drinks. A nightmare. I much prefer funerals. Get the black tie out, free grub and a chance to get pissed with people your own advanced age at reasonable cost. What's not to like? Do what I do, just don’t go and the added bonus is people never talk to your again ! Lol

WILF 46,499
I can’t actually get my head round the fact that people know, let alone actually like, that many people and in such a way as they are willing to spend a fortune on them ?……..I’ve genuinely liked, as in liked, about 6 people at any one time in my life…..it’s now down to about 2!! Im not an unsociable person as such, in fact I spent my life dealing with people and I do genuinely want to like people……I just never found that many that I do for more than about 8 hours max I can meet people and say “he/she was a lovely lad/girl “ and mean it but as in long term people that you’d want to celebrate special things with, nah, 2 is where it is at these days and as I say it was never more than 6 ! 11 at my wedding including family and that was perfect, I didn’t even tell any c**t I was getting married ! Lol We actually ain't too unlike. One of my nieces is getting married this November. Can't stand the prick she's marrying, and when she rings to ask us if it's OK for them to come down for a visit, see the baby etc, I go for a walk and tell the mrs to give me a ring when they've left. Like you say, it's not that I'm really unsociable, I just don't like a lot of people, and can see straight through most horrible c**ts. 4

Lol I find that hard to believe mate, as a football lad and a hunting lad... I've loads of mates, whether they all stand the test of time, I don't know yet, but to suggest only 2 of them is worth my time now don't work for me... I was with 2 blokes tonight I met off this site, at a do for one of their dad/mums 3 of us off here... My wife and partners together, kids I've watched grow up, supported in many ways, lads who I've up most respect for, plus love... and met on this site..mad when you think of it... tomorrow I'll have mates here who have been my friends for nearly 40 years, played decent football with since we were kids, grew up doing all the things young blokes do... to suggest you only have 2 mates now don't wash mate... I hope that ain't true Edited July 13 by NEWKID

I hope that ain't true I have loads of acquaintances mate, plenty of them I get on well with and see regularly for one reason or another…..but people I would class as actual, true, friends…..absolutely no more than 2. I’m pretty serious about you if you’re my pal, as in I’m all in…….It just wouldn’t be possible for me to be that way with 10 or 20 or 30 people…..I just don’t see how anyone could. Im not a “socialising” type of bloke, not for 30 years….I’m not knocking people who are, it’s just I’m not…..and older I have got the less I can be bothered with people all being nice and driving me mad ! Lol f**k me, I sound like a right grumpy c**t and I’m not in reality ! Lol…..I just don’t want people to annoy me to the point I f***ing hate them, which normally takes about 2 hours at all these type of get together’s like weddings where people pretend to be like blood kin and the reality is, when they have drunk all the drink and eaten all the grub the bride and groom won’t see them again, ever ! Lol A Christmas card from Moonpig once a year ! I can live without them ! Lol People who love you don’t care about all that, they take all your quirks, they understand it’s how you are and they love you anyway with no judgement.
tatsblisters 9,371
Looks like you all had a great day beats the hell out of the reception in an upstairs room in a pub like mine was 42 year ago. Best wedding i have been to was when a mate got married a wile back and hired Hooten Lodge and the grounds for the day with on sight camping and a small funfair with two beer tents and an hog roast thankfully it was a good day weather wise in August.
JamieCalvin 1
Hosting such a big event while renovating must have been a challenge, but it sounds like it turned out great. I had a similar experience recently where I organized a big family gathering while juggling a home renovation. After that, I promised myself I’d stick to smaller events, but I ended up getting some paid gigs for events. It’s funny how things work out—sometimes those cheap business class flights to a relaxing getaway can be a nice reward after all the hard work.
