That and it honestly seems a lot of people in my age groups have been groomed to never try to make the boss mad or to just plain not give a f**k.  See it all the time , pathetic really , especially for the amount alot of people get paid along with all the job opportunities out nowadays. I honestly feel it's due to the lack of strong male role models.

Gotta say on a side note alot of boss know that they can milk a hard working person who don't complain more then a shit bag and get less problems. Most hard working people my age , as I said, got this deal where they been raised that if they work hard keep their nose tkt he grind stone and don't complain they will get noticed and work their way up ! Most boss however just take that as , " I can keep working this stupid sap for the same pay and they won't buck or complain ! Wonderful!"  However they know the only way they can get more work out of a shit bag is more pay and at a lot of places firing somone= a lot of extra bullshit for the supervising personnel. It's a messed up dela honestly.

It's like my wife , love her to death but she's been way too conditioned to be a boss pleaser/hard worker. Will come home crying and talking about how hard she works how, they stay on her piling on responsibilities and and let the other women just f**k off giving her more work with less pay and how she doesn't understand why they keep working her so hard because she never complains or tries to cause problems..... Like yeah honey it's because they know you won't push back , say no or cause a fuss. You'll just say yes ma'am like a good lil wage slave and go to work. All for $9hr.... Finally told her last trip home after she backed out of quitting ,again she's acting like a beat woman and if she comes home crying again I'm going up there and dragging her out kicking and screaming .

Anyhow I'm rambling now lol

Mate I,m not known for my subtle ways and can be a bit offensive but I tend to be quite truthful and sadly in life there are people born that will be bullied from the day they start school and ridden throughout there life it’s there Destiny happens in every walk of life

A Little education can reap benefits to your own knowledge, skills and experience . 

There’s only four command positions in the military ,

commanding officer (lt col)

officer commanding  (major) 

troop commander ( lt )

and section commander ( corporal , the most important role in the military imho and the point of failure in any operation) 

everyone else , sgts , sgt major , is absolutely the supporting cast . 

I work as a tp ssgt , I mainly work in the shadows , advising the tp commander what is achievable and the cpls what is accepted and what is jank. Expectation management and career development is my bread and butter work. 

as a section commander in airborne forces, my hardest job was delivering the bare minimum as standard . I had anywhere between 18 and 40 versions of me underneath me, holding their leads back at times , dragging boys to the next task and the next win was f***ing hard but the standards imbued into me were what I expected . 

when I promoted and moved on , I had to completely realign my thought process , I used to have to check if guys were lying about not being injured to come on physical training or exercise , I had to for want of a better term be the pirate captain , be more driven , the last to leave , the first to start , be louder , fitter , better , carry more weight than. Anyone else .It was  f***ing draining .

now I was literally checking if guys were in work , if they were fit enough , if they could do the basics , it was like being at man united then transferring to Stockport county . It was a totally different job , and when I started I had to change things to get the climate I wanted . 

I read until the small hours every night , swot analysis, 10 diseases of leadership and realised that the main reason my new team were failing was me ! 

I was enforcing standards they weren't capable of meeting or had any need to.

those few months of professional development not only helped me increase my understanding but drove my team far beyond my expectations . 
 

for a few hours reading a week and a bit of financial outlay and lap top wrangling , I now have professionally recognised qualifications in engineering management , iosh , chartered manager and ilm membership . I’d much rather do this as a career than be that rakish angry section commander any day of the week . 

 

 

 

 

What’s the sweet spot between accepting mediocrity and getting lads to do more than they thought they could ?……

I found this comment massively interesting as I have encountered it with adult football and I have to admit, it just breaks me to the point that I can have absolutely nothing to do with it.

I never encountered it at work, maybe because garbage was ruthlessly stripped away…..It left a core of lads (from all sorts of backgrounds and lifestyles) who I saw grow as men, who were probably seen as non starters if you see them in the street but when it came to clearing 10 floors of kit, loading hundreds of tons of equipment professionally without damage, often for 36 hours without sleep…..literally 6 blokes doing the work of 20 in half the time…..these lads could pull up trees !

Mentally and physically strong and realising they were and seeing the pride that gave them. 
 

Maybe mediocrity naturally had no place amongst these lads and I did have the ability to just say “f**k off out of our sight” to the wankers and you can’t do that when you don’t have control over who is there and who isn’t, so is it just a case of doing the best with mediocrity you can and accepting that you will have to look at it every single day ?

We will talk about this on the phone brother because it genuinely is something I’m thinking about lately.

You can’t do it like that, it’s show and tell rather than just tell.

Its also personality projection and showing people you believe in them and getting them to believe in themselves……that’s my experience anyway.
