For a few days I was half expecting a couple of the local farmers to ring me, telling me she'd killed some of their sheep, but no, nothing. Quote Link to post

There was a Carlisle Minshaw dog called Tartan? I think which I've heard was a veritable hoover for rabbits and other game. Of course you never know how much exaggeration, sometimes bourne out of enthusiasm and sometimes out of bull shittery comes into play when mentioning dogs of the past. My best dog was a 3/4 greyhound/ collie bitch in the 70s. I always look back and think she was the bees' knees, but I forget about the times she hunted up after the lamp was switched off, or the time I was chased by a farmer in a Land rover and she refused to be caught up and ran around looking for game with her eyes flashing like Blackpool illuminations. She did have the knack though. Like most good uns she died young, 6 years old from Cushings. MR’s tartan supposed to have been a very good dog from some credible people Quote Link to post

My eldest son was born a few month beforew I acquired that bitch, he's 33 now. Anyway, we did try a couple of pure greyhounds when I was actually still a lad lol. They weren't too bad, to be honest. Not as good as a lurcher or purpose bred dog, but OK. 1 Quote Link to post

We had bedwellty track, been permanently closed for years now, and ystrad Mynach track, closed for refurbishment for a few years, now called the valley stadium, also swansea greyhound track, also closed. Yeah, a good purpose bred pup would be my choice Quote Link to post

Only live about a stonesthrow really, from the 'old dog track' on cardiff Road, now. Used to love going to bedwelly as a youngster. Seen more than a few dogs take a tumble coming down that sloping part of the track at the far end!! Lol 1 Quote Link to post
