Just get your optician to print off a copy of your prescription and type that in and that’s all there is too it……save yourself several hundred quid. Take about 10 to 14 days to be delivered I think because it’s from America. Here you go mate: Men's Prescription Eyeglasses WWW.GOGGLES4U.CO.UK Men's Prescription eyeglasses starting at $6.95 with Frame and Lenses. Best Price... Cheers mate. I have already paid for them from specsavers and pick them up next Friday but I will keep this in mind and at work we are all enrolled with Westfield even though we don't pay into it out of our wages and HR is sorting to get me 100 notes back on the glasses I'm getting.

Got me thinking about my childhood school day's and especially infants and junior school were us kids could be cruel to other kids who wore glasses. I was prescribed glasses at two years old due to a slightly lazy eye though I can never remember wearing them and my parents never nagging me to wear them. I found them some years back when my mother passed away amongst other things she had kept from my childhood.

tatsblisters 9,371
Just been and picked my verifocals and I honestly thought specsavers were playing a fekin practical joke on me no way could I work or wear these glasses they would be fekin dangerous. I asked if the optician who was a Pakistani could have got the prescription wrong and the assistant said he could have ffs. I told them I want a full refund and I will go to another opticians and due to the shite I have just listened to from specsavers staff who the lass in the shop went and got another manager I would avoid specsavers like the plague if the shop in Rotherham is anything to go by. Specsavers and vision express are both franchises mate so the staff don't give a f**k mate.Find an independent that's run by the owner and preferably one that's been about for years.
mel b 2,074
I can only speak from my relatively short time as a glasses wearer. I had to start wearing glasses , to pass my hgv medical. I bought varifocals from my local opticians , they cost around £300 , and I couldn't even walk in them , never mind drive a hgv. For the last two years I've had to drive my lorry , with them perched on the end of my nose , so that I could see over the top of them. Fast forward to a month or so ago. I decided that I really needed to get my glasses sorted . My mrs booked me an appointment at asda , as they were the only ones that didn't have a month long waiting list. I explained the issues to the asda optician, and after a bit of juggling around to get the magnification in the right place on the lenses , I've got a fantastic pair of reactolight varifocals, for £150 , that I don't only wear for driving , I wear them full time . They feel so natural and comfortable, that I sometimes forget to take them off at night , and fall asleep wearing them.
chartpolski 22,942
Let me give my personal experience since I first thought I’d need glasses. I went to an “independent “ optician and as I had never had my eyes tested before, I didn’t realise how absolutely basic the checks she done were. Just putting different lenses over my eyes and asking what line on the chart I could read . She then said I had blepharitus , ( dry eye), in my right eye, and she could sell me some drops for £15 ! Anyhow, when I collected the glasses, one pair for reading and one pair for driving, the ones for driving made absolutely no difference. When I was having a yearly check up with my doctor, I mentioned the dry eye, he had a look and referred me to an eye consultant. The consultant diagnosed, not dry eye, but a cataract, and was surprised the optician hadn’t spotted it. He gave me a full range of tests, including the “puff test “ and photographed behind my eyes and also a “pinhole “ test, none of which the optician did. He said yes, I needed reading glasses, but not distance glasses. He gave me a letter to take back to my optician. The optician, to put it mildly, was extremely upset at the consultants letter and very defensive. We had a “disagreement” and I left. I then had an appointment with Specsavers and showed them the consultants diagnosis and they went through the full tests again and gave me one pair of glasses for reading and arranged for a cataract operation, which I had, and then they re-ran all the tests and gave me new glasses for reading . So, in my case, an “independent “ optician was a rip off and Specsavers were extremely professional. Of course , this not be the case in other peoples experiences , but I’m happy with them . Cheers.

Not a good look and painful to wear around your ears. Kept them on your face when playing football though. Wore them through several stages of school life until mam and dad saved up to get me a "designer" pair of frames. They didn't last long and it was back to NH issue until I started to contribute to the cost, paper round etc. It never really bothered me wearing glasses at school. When people called me "specky" I would comment on them being fat or ugly or soft or smelly or thick or whatever and then I would take my classes off. " look, I'm not specky now but you're still thick!" I used to get through lots of pairs of glasses.
