I cannot remember being more disappointed with an England team in a final. Short memory of course, topped our group stage so should be nothing to complain about. But the football played given the players that we have. Shocking!

My team for next game (based on f**k all football knowledge):

Palmer right wing. What do we do with Saka? Don't care, looks like an under 14 playing with seniors.

Keep Walker right back. 

Keep Trippier out of position at left back. 

Gordon left wing. The kid has so much but an added bonus Trippier has played on the left with Gordon in front of him for Newcastle and they know each other's game. Gordon has been schooled in helping when needed getting back with Trippier being played on the left. Trippier knows how to unleash Gordon.

Toney centre forward.

Kane number 10

Midfield? Such a wealth of talent at our disposal but none have been allowed to play to their strengths so far, stick a pin in the team sheet.

Centre backs. Is it too late to call up Big Dan Burn?

Keeper. The mad Mackem. The only one trying to drive the side forward for most of last night's game. 

A daft uneducated football fan selection based on nothing other than a knowledge that the team who scores the most goals wins the game. Don't know who our next opponents are yet but I've put 3-1 to England on the board at work, just hope that Southgate reads my email.

I like football, in fact I’m watching Portugal right now, diving and rolling about like they’ve been shot, but I’m certainly no expert ! High press, low block, along the lines, through the channel, in the pockets, are mysterious to me, never heard anything like that in ‘66 !

Is a game plan like defence gives the ball to midfield, midfield gives it to the wingers who cross it to the centre forward too simplistic ????

You've got 3 number 10s shoe horned in, Bellingham, Kane and Foden.. 3 of the best players in the world no doubt, but you can't accommodate them.all and retain any balance imo

The late, great Brian Clough, a true footballing genius imo, said "players lose you games not tactics. There's a lot of rubbish spoken about tactics by people who barely know how to win at dominoes"

I remember an ex Liverpool player describing Bob Paisley's team talks. It went something like I would like you play such and such a way and then "oh f**k it, you know what to do, get out there".

Tactics are necessary but team spirit and players'  character  and creativity are more important imo.

It would be helpful for England if the supporters got behind their team and manager through thick and thin. Throwing stuff at the manager, no matter what you think of him is shitty behaviour. End of.

Brian Clough, ... to me, scoring goals was just like other boys might regard delivering papers, I did it every day... Southgate, at the moment, has turned goal scorers into paper boys.
