paddyluke 741
england have not won a tournament since they have had a black player in the team
THE STIFFMEISTER 15,719
As much as he gets maligned , that fifteen minute period at the start of the second happy shows exactly why we need McGuire . That defence looked all at see there , no unifying voice , no loud commands , absolutely his business and it’s missing there . I don’t know how but to phrase it , and I know this will bite me , but saka is the master of “ i need to push this past him and knock on , but I’ll get pushed over , so I won’t “ it’s a lack of belief that shouldn’t be in a player of his talents . england look well here imho

B Charlton, Bobby Moore, Shearer, Greaves Banks, perhaps Rooney. All time greats Stiff. Modern players are fitter, more clued up and play on grass not mud. But the above ,and a few more, were greats of the highest quality imo. Three of the above won the World Cup . Pretty good going!

Bellingham will win England a trophy . hes a twenty year old Englishman and he’s arguably the best player in the world at the minute . He’s won more this season than shearer did in two decades buddy .

THE STIFFMEISTER 15,719
Literally spent the whole game watching him mate , he’s genuinely a class class act . Everything about him is basics done well , never ever gets himself hassled or hurried. i watched him for Dortmund against rangers in the champions league and thought he was very standard . Looking back , I wasn’t thinking how at 17 , he was faultless that game . watch how he sits in that half turn , and if he’s back to travel , look how aware he is of tge ball and where it’s best to go . 20 years old , at Real Madrid , player of the la liga , champions league and title winner , now standing on a pitch , pointing passes, snapping orders at players from Man City and Liverpool like they have won a charity space in a testimonial . we’ve never had a player like him in this country , like winning the lottery
jukel123 7,957
Don't disagree about Bellingham at all. Shearer played in a bum team and still holds the premiership all time goalscoring record. A world class player imo. A side issue, but I respect his decision to turn down Man Utd as well. Professionally bonkers, but I applaud him. He was his own man. Depressing pundit though. Bring back Saint and Greavsie.

Stiff Maguire is nowhere near the standard required, same for Stones. A ball playing , composed centre half in the style of Ferdinand is required I reckon.

Do you not think McGuire adds Value in the three lions though ? More than the sum of his parts ? When he’s not there the defence looks messy . I think he neatly slides in and leads the line very well for country allowing stones and others to deal with threats he points out . A hard quality to replace imho . rice was imperious tonight also
