My mrs just told me her friend has got to pay 10k vet fee her dog walker somehow broke her dachshunds back and they don’t even know if the dog will be ok yet

Where there's blame, there's a claim dog walker absolutely is responsible for the bill and if they don't have insurance well that's their problem.

In fairness mate, I always think when I hear these things “Are they keeping the dog alive for them or for the dog ?” 
A broken back sounds pretty serious and I can only imagine the animal is in pain and/or discomfort and will be for the rest of its life in all likely hood so why are they fretting about keeping the dog cutting about half crippled ?

My mother in law is one of them, all the dogs she has ever had end up mangled and on drugs to keep them going, it’s f***ing cruel to me.

Just be kind, do it in and move on.
