We climbed it and it was buzzing with life: insects, frogs, toads, grouse, red deer, golden Eagle. I normally associate a huge variety of wildlife with higher temperatures. But the Highlands has an ecosystem which hasn't been interfered with by industry or agriculture, so the place is just an huge nature reserve brimming with life. On the negative side you get eaten with midges and have to be careful of ticks.
