And surely gene pool must be small and if they've been breeding all these years wouldn't they be biggish numbers by now? By the way I'm not sayin that there isn't big cats out there a keeper on a sporting estate I used to live and work on says he so 1 up near where used to live road many years ago he wasn't 1 for bull and [BANNED TEXT] he was keeper on our estate he went to bring big cats to a safari park over here so knew his stuff also knew a farmer near our estate who said he'd shot 1 and buried not to get into bother and not many people knew that but our keeper seen it when he shot it and told him to Bury it and keep quiet Sorry mate missed this I think from ww2 there has been a small amount kept alive by escapees and so on but to me the dangerous animal act and the increasing deer population is bringing the numbers up there are a few killed year on year and they are not prolific breeders but from reports and sightings you can see populations spreading and growing slowly we are years away I think from a population we’re people are encountering them regularly but very slowly it is happening

jukel123 7,957
I used to be on a salmon beat and one of the members was a judge. He would take anything, foul hooked fish, black fish, kelts. He was the judge on a poaching case: two teenage lads found on the salmon redds with spearing devices. He was waxing big about how he was going throw the book at these kids. And he did. It really brought home to me the hypocrisy, he was the most unsporting member of the beat but he made an example of a couple of kids. When it was legal to take salmon home, I caught a big hen fish about sixteen pounds. I decided to let it go because it was a hen fish and contained thousands of eggs. The judge begged me for it and was annoyed I released it on the grounds of conservation. Double standards.

jukel123 7,957
Caught 3 o' clock this morning on the fly. Making my way home I saw roe deer, an otter and a kingfisher, not forgetting old nag the heron. What a way to start the day. Brought my Mrs a cup of tea and warmed my hands on her bum. Sea trout 4 lbs. Edited June 5 by jukel123 13

jukel123 7,957
Oops double post. The sea trout I caught about ten years ago. Note the MAN U felling stick, mell, priest whatever you call it. The salmon pic was the last salmon I ever brought home for the table. Then the ban came in. I honestly don't mind putting salmon back. The need for conservation is obvious.
