Popular Post lampingboy 213
It's been about 5 years since I've ran a dog of my own and probably coming on 10 years since I've worked a lurcher regularly. I kept a pup back from the last litter my bitch had 7 years ago but unfortunately due to life taking the twists and turns that it does. I never really got to see what type of worker my last dog matured into. He still lives with my parents but he's more of a retired couch potato than a worker these days. Anyway, bring on the start of 2024. Life's different, I'm settled. Business ticking over ok, family man and I've finally got 5 minutes to myself again. I've had the urge for another runner. A friend offered to gift me the pick of one of his pups that he kept back from a litter last year but they're now almost 8 months old. I've always been a bit fussy with taking on anything other than a new pup, a clean slate as I do believe starting the basics young make things a lot easier going forward, that's my preference so I politely declined. Anyway, after looking around for a few months, I eventually seen some pups that I liked the look of but unfortunately they were all gone. Luckily i left my number with the chap who a week later called saying two people had dropped out, there was now one rough coated bitch and one smooth dog available. I've always preferred keeping bitches and always kept rough coats but for some unknown reason, decided on the smooth dog. So here he is, just turned 12 weeks old. Soft as a brush and great with my 2 year old but seems to have a bit of fire in his belly when playing with the other dogs. The bloke I got him from has kept the mother's line for the last 20 ish years, both parents 27tts, he's 5th generation wheaton x bull x greyhound with some collie 6 generations back. He did explain every generations crosses to me but it went in one ear out the other. I'm hopeful he comes on well and brings me much love and enjoyment for the sport I have missed for the past few years. Here's two photos of my last dog (the current couch potato) and then the pup with my viz, the ugly little sod as he is 22 Quote Link to post
