EDDIE B 3,166 Posted May 15, 2024 Report Share Posted May 15, 2024 Picked up a very rusty trap whilst magnet fishing. It was literally rock solid with rust. Must have Bern in the water for a long time. Stuck it into some vinegar/water mix for two days followed by a boill in some baking soda. Attached a chain, and then bit a matt black spray paint, and looks good now. Quote Link to post

Got a few rusty pieces that need the same treatment. Many thanks. Aled I used plain old white vinegar. Can get a drum of it for about a fiver in any of those cash and carry type shops. Think I used two parts water, to three parts vinegar, but a lot say to use a 50/50 mix. I done about ten items in the bucket at the same time. Left them for two days, and it done a great job on them. I think baking soda neutralises the reaction of the vinegar, to stop it from re-rusting. 1 Quote Link to post
