I expect looking at the demographic of people on here there are more than one or two with prostate issues, I am not a fan of tablet a day for life type of medication  so don’t take the tablets I was p

Little update, last time I had the old digit up the back box was told I had a healthy but very enlarged prostate well moving forward after throwing the tablet a day for the rest of my life in the bin

Going to sound a bit childish this but apparently keeping your mens bits doing their job is beneficial for the prostrate. Dont know how true it is but it’s good fun doing it anyway !…….unless you

I had my annual check-up for my kidney stones last week. Fortunately the tablets I take to reduce the production of potassium (which my body does in excess for some reason) are still working and the little darlings haven't grown over the last year.

However, when I mentioned in passing that I'm a BRCA1 gene carrier, he looked at his screen a little puzzled and asked what my GP had done as a follow-up to my PSA test this year. When I replied that nothing had been done other than a call to say it was at a normal level he looked a bit shocked. Turns out it was slightly high and that, coupled with the gene, should've sent alarm bells off.

A few minutes later and I'd had the old "finger where no finger should go routine" and he said it's not enlarged but they're going to call me in for an MRI scan just in case!

I don't want to be negative about the NHS, but this is simply another case of my local GP surgery doing as little as they can and hoping you'll go away. Nothing but praise for my local hospital though (again). The service I receive there is always 100%

I recently had the prostate examination and the blood test but my GP didn't say or refer me for an MRI scan despite a small problem I have wanting to urinate more often than I normally would have done a few years ago. Though it's probably down to getting older.
