for me its nature v nature at its highest level , to watch an old buck outwitting is just as good for me as the kill, many dogs have been killed by a hares wily ways !i like to count the turns too , i think nothing is better than watching your dog on the arse of a good hare and that pleasure rush when its caught, i have the ultimate respect for the hare and think its the ultimate test of a running dog to take reg daytime hares, power speed and beauty , what more could you want ???

Its good to have a dog that can kill a hare, a good hare. I have a mixed answer to this and i guess it depends on the scenario....

If a lurcher is coursing and its been a great run and he picks it up we always say" That dog deserved to catch it"

where as if the course has been a great run and the hare escapes we seem to say " That hare deserved to get away"!!! lol.....

Horses for courses really.......When i was a nipper i wanted to make a catch no matter how i did it, but the older i get the catch means less and less to me....perhaps i am mellowing? Or just going senile!! :icon_eek::big_boss:

Good hunting JD
