My cattle dog 8 weeks to 12 months couldn't ov asked for a better dog 

Obedient clever and happy to please roll on the winter

She’s made a nice solid type same as her litter bro wanted a general knockabout type and looks like that’s what he ll be shedding a bit of timber now come sept look a bit different again fast enough for all I need atb taffey I try load  few pics but me and this uploading don’t get on very well

Good solid dog taffey they are bang on mooching dogs like you say come September they be different again

And mine wouldn't really take to the dummy she would never really retrieve it to me bit rabbits she retrieve them so can't complain

I borrow it off a farmer handy for carting long nets etc up the wet fields it’s a Yamaha I think 600

cc all I know saves me walking lol handy tools for sure

My sodding kelpie bitch is the opposite. She retrieves all and sundry inanimate objects all day long (not by request, she just picks up random objects and brings them over) but every squirrel she catches she just goes "crunch, crunch, drop" and then goes off looking for the next one. I've even tried retrieving training with the ones she catches but she simply can't see the point of chasing after a dead squirrel that she's already caught. Must be cleverer than me!

Your crosses look very handy. I saw a sapling advertised a few weeks ago but it was much slimmer,racier then yours. I like a working dog to have a bit of substance.

First dog I ferreted with was a red cattle/grey, great dog. You don't see the cross over here much these days which is a shame because they can hunt a lot of different game, are tough and don't get many injuries.

I'm pretty sure I've written this on here before, but I'm impressed by the gradually growing number of working ACDs I've seen in recent years. A few years back, with the exception of John Holmes' Sunny and Kulta etc, they were all barrel-chested, short legged dogs which looked unable to do a day's work. But I'm seeing more and more adverts from working rather than show lines and, in most cases, the type seems to have improved as a result.

I saw one recently (which I tried to talk my wife into but she said two kelpies is enough) which was undergoing training as a medical assistance dog but was being re-homed as the owner had become more ill and could no longer finish off its training. From the sound of it, it was very friendly and easy going and it looked more like the old fashioned racier ones from many years ago.

That's good because they really should stay as workers. The working ones can vary in size. One mate has a red cattle nearly the size of a German Shepherd that he uses to catch pigs single handedly and another mate has a pair from working dogs that are smaller than my Parson Russell. They have a bad habit of grabbing the mud flaps on your car and one day both were hanging onto a taxi's mud flaps as it drove up the road, lol. They would also take your calf muscle off if you went into his yard.

He’s settled in lovely quiet In kennel and good in motor he’s at work with him everyday they hopefully be a good team when times right thx for your help in sorting it out Atb taffey
