"Silver blanket" Is that a facial from an older gentleman ?

Them highways bods  get about £27000 a year I’d not sit in Ferrari for that,  watching your fat bald work colleague push a stinking double cheese burger down his gullet while farting n burping.then go

i would imaging having these vehicles it covers all aspects of driving, off road on road and winter conditions, also, these vehicles can probably carry more sizeable emergency equipment for motorway u

So is these traffic cops not cops then lol an only sit on the motorways?

In England they have the power to stop you and give you a ticket on the motorway...

In Wales they set out cones and sweep up debris....

I'm pretty sure they have no power to stop you.....they do have power to slop traffic when there's an incident further up the motorway....this is where they help the cops out.

Just Google searched it...it says they can pull you over for unsecured loads etc...but they can't issue tickets or speeding fines or anything like that

There's two kinds mate...there are proper traffic cops ....usually the transport police...and there's highways agency traffic officers there not police and have no real power....just there to assist cops with incidents...with regards to road safety

Just came up a slip road onto the A1 and there was a two car crash on the slip road. The traffic highway people were there in a Toyota Hilux pick up, one lad was directing traffic and putting cones out, the other was attending to people in the cars.

Bit churlish, I think, to slag them off.

Cheers.

I hate to be pedantic mate, but the Transport police and the Traffic police aren’t the same.
They are both proper police, but different units, the Transport police deal mainly with the railways and maybe the airports. The Traffic police are the ones you see on the motorways.

Theres also a little known unit called the Civil Nuclear Police who protect all nuclear facilities and the transport of nuclear materials.

They are separate divisions but do sometimes cross over, when those Stop Oil fanatics sprayed red paint over the Ministry of Defence building recently, it was the Transport police who were first on the scene, before a further different force, the Ministry of Defence police arrived.

A bit confusing, but they are all police, the Highways Traffic Officers aren’t.

Cheers.

With the sheer number of cars on the roads today coupled with these ridiculous Smart Motorways something is needed to ensure safety my mrs was hit up the arse on the M1 last year and although not hurt it shook her up......she isnt a nervous type of person but on a live motorway lane between the SOS layby's unable to physically get off the motorway it wasnt a nice situation to be in yet within a few minutes the lane was closed off, traffic officers were there they drove her up to Newport Pagnell services, sat with her until the car arrived, helped her with recovery etc......im not a fan of plod/authority at all but they did a good job and so credit where its due.
