hello jasper, it was happening quite low in the sky, as the one i photographed took off from the wall, the attack initiater had just appeared above us, i think this is what spooked my one more than my presence, the one on the wall must of got about four storeys high when it took the first hit, after this i lost track of which bird was which but the action stayed at this level with attacker rising up about 20 foot or so above to set up the next attack, have attached photos of what i thought may be evidence of its presence, but not to clued up on these things so it may be from another predator.

A good percentage of Peregrine Kills will be taken up to a advantage point somehwere high! she won't want to sit about on the floor for long incase of predators and such. I'll be totaly Honest mate its a hard one but a pigeon plucked on the floor points to Hawk a majority of the time! but then again there's no rule book to any of them ...

a nice picture if you see them again GHT will solve the mystery :victory:...

foxdropper, both birds appeared to be the same, but my species recognition is poor, pidgeon robin magpie pheasent etc, so this may not be the case. i will visit the area a couple of times a week and hopefully be able to put up a defining shot in the not too distant future, sorry but try as i might i just cant recall any sound at all, it was very windy and i was wearing hood and balaclava, so maybe there was noise but my ears were to muffled to hear.

......................and mystery it is .Was the other bird the same as the one on the wall or same markings but smaller .Did you recognise the other bird mate .Usually very vocal displays this ,by any bird of prey ?Harrier of what type?

Those pictures of plucked feathers were made by peregrines, the other bird sounds like a male merlin, to have simular markings.
