tatsblisters 9,748
As far as what we call pegging and years ago i had a few shifts out with lad's who were professional in their approach to the task gleaned from old ss chool poachers. Same as any task that involved taking game in numbers different ways will always cause controversy amongst those who participated in such methods. The one that used to make me smile was what i read in some books about walking towards the set net's rattling a box of matches to drive rabbit's towards the nets. Quote Link to post
Mr Wilkes 2,992
Enjoyed watching that Fred, as Jack said the old lad does it differently. Will his way of netting work..yes without a doubt but its a lot of faffing around to be super efficient. I really used to enjoy our nights netting up int dales with old smithie but life sent me a curved ball and I needed a long time out of everything to recuperate. Quote Link to post

Mr Wilkes 2,992
She's far from perfect mate but I've learned to live with her. Her nose is second to none and she retrieves every thing I shoot with the catty. Everything has to be killed again before she retrieves it and she's part crocodile so it tends to be in a state. Things should change as she matures but I'm not to bothered tbh. What's your whippet like ?. 1 Quote Link to post

I have learned with age nothing in life is perfect, her nose is bang on been marking since just over 6 months old, catching well rabbits, squirrels, not afraid of cover will enter brambles, nettles etc. only 19tts and lightly built but this adds to her sharpness. takes a lot of knocks cuts, few stitches and Jaws like a gin trap, very hard mouthed. and a baxxrd for deer. Mr Wilkes 2,992
She a belter mate, is she pedigree?, funny this one of mine ain't bothered about deer thank feck. I Don't use her for anything else but squirrel. She's run a couple of rabbit and caught one , never seen a hare or fox. I'm too old for all that type of hunting now. I enjoy a quiet stroll int woods chasing the grey menace. 2 Quote Link to post

Yes she is kc, pennymeadow whippet, I don't want her running deer I have no interest in them. the greys are booming in numbers at least it's something for the dogs and catty. 2 Quote Link to post
