Cash or card ? I guess it depends on the circumstances.

My missus travels more than most and uses one of her cards for paying for travel on everything from long haul flights, trains, buses, taxis , even tuk tuks in Bangkok or horse drawn carriage in New York , simply because the card comes with very good travel insurance.

As for cash, she was once pulled up by a customs officer with a cash sniffer dog in Heathrow with $10,000 in her bag, she had a very good reason for having it, so no problem, but if you haven’t got a good reason , the cash is gone !

Some times things are cheaper for cash, but on the other hand you have some comeback if you’ve paid by card and something goes wrong.

And let’s not forget, there are places that only accept cards not cash.

So, six and two threes, sometimes cash, sometimes card !

Cheers.

How do they take your money ? When you pay for something by card the vendor pays the fee, not the buyer .

Cheers.

i was referring to the a sum  of 10k or above  chart

but on the vendor getting the charge do you think they don’t factor that in when they know they have to pay it ?

you never pay cash and they knock the 20 percent off ?

It’s not the banks that confiscate the money, it’s the government. It’s all to do with money laundering.

Of course I’ve had discount for cash, but there are times a transaction can only be done by card.

Are you seriously saying you never use a card ? How do you pay when you book a holiday, how do you pay for your fuel, do you never buy anything off the internet, Amazon, etc, do you never use an Uber or food delivery services?

Some bars I know only take card, when my missus wanted a new phone contract the company would only take card.

Whats wrong with using a debit card ?

Cheers.

Use cash for 90% of all my transactions unless it's an online purchase, if somewhere only takes card then I'll go elsewhere.

The pound has been devalued enough as it is imagine what they could do in a cashless society, with a press of a button they could make your online tokens worthless or with hold you from accessing them.

Use cash where you can and if a normal business doesn't except it then go elsewhere.

I don't think my dad has ever used a card, we book his holidays, he has never ordered anything online, he has a wedge in his top pocket at all times and stashes all around his house..always been the same...he had an accident a good few years back, was running a pub at the time, spent 4 weeks in an induced coma..when he came round the first thing he asked me was "have you checked behind the oven in the pub kitchen, theres £7k there" ... There's old school and then him! Lol
