Over the border

The Common riding in Galashiels is possibly the most famous.  We farmed on Threepwood which was a fantastic Hunt meet. Melrose hosted a meet which took place over the Tweed. All in all the hunting fraternity had, and probably still has, a a heck of a following in the Borders.

The copshaw Holme common riding is amazing .

I spent a lot of time there as a younger man across the border with work and leisure , it’s an absolute tragedy those towns these days , like a memory of places that used to be thriving bustling gaffs

Dido. I,ve said it many times, in different context, on here. Melrose is the place to go in the Scottish Borders. I was born there and schooled there never mind playing rugby on the famous Greenyards.

I lived in leith forty years ago for a bit . Sounds like it changed a bit. I got stabbed, smaked on head with iron bar put my eye out it's socket, saw neighbours in flat above go past window when they

I got stabbed, smaked on head with iron bar put my eye out it's socket, saw neighbours in flat above go past window when they both jumped, and saw plenty blood piss and puke in the landing. Can't remember a fish restraunt 😂

Half term next week.... thinking of taking my lad to jockland for a couple of days. Was thinking Edinburgh and the castle then perhaps Stirling castle along with a visit to Roslyn chapel.

Any suggestions for accommodation that would be suitable for Edinburgh and Stirling, maybe somewhere in-between.

Is accommodation in Edinburgh really expensive?

Any other ideas of places to visit?

But when the Jocks came down to Devon when the factory's closed for Jock fortnight they were f***ing nuts. I worked on Paignton harbour letting motor boat and rowing boat it was a nightmare for two weeks. They would be walking around pissed up on Scrumpy in the morning swimming with a flagon of Cider crashing the boats let off the fire extinguishers.

Cheers Arry

Execution spot for witches outside Edinburgh castle.

Had 4 hours in the old town. Brilliant....if you want a kilt, some whisky or a Harris tweed handbag. Just like every single other gift shop in Scotland
