Bloody joke yet some guy took salmon home got hammered with over 2 grand fine Leachate is a awful thing to treat as it passes through every bit of crap people have disposed of and strength can vary considerably depending on the nature of the landfill waste, weather conditions, if its a working landfill etc. The EA are currently rolling out new legislation (BAT21) for all companies discharging including water companies. The regulations reduce the parameters at which companies can discharge and have a reporting procedure on a H1 assessment tool. Unfortunately the H1 assessment tool does not work and was written by a 3rd party company so its useless, which sums up the EA! The reality is the parameters will be lowered to the point where smaller waste treatment plants and companies will not be able to treat waste, this in turn will result in more fly tipping and then increased pollution, Its going to get worse. 1 Quote Link to post

Borr 5,680
They've basically been given the go ahead to keep it going regardless of petty fines , I've worked in enough places with effluent plants to know they nearly all run at capacity and everything is about profit until you penalise shareholders you've got no chance , guaranteed tax payer will fox all this disaster and then they'll give it back to shareholder, rotten to the core....
