Yeah know it wilf, my mother was in an orphanage until she was 5 years old and basically sold to an old spinster as a farm hand, long story but the way kids were treated in them places was nothing short of evil.

My mother was in an orphanage during ww2 made her a very hardened unemotional  person can’t imagine what she endured in there

Mad to think how it used to be...kids sent to orphanages, work houses ,even other countries Remember my old Nana telling me she was about 12 yrs old, they split her from her 5 brothers and sister and she went into 'service' in a big old stately Home during ww2...cleaning,cooking and walking  the man of the houses dogs( apparently they were alsatians,my Nana owned  alsatians until the day she passed,breed and showed them too at one time)
