His last ride

Recommended Posts

They came across, to me, as unpretentious, not taking themselves too seriously. The never described themselves as chefs; just cooks.

Enjoyed watching their shows , until they went a bit vegan.
Seemed like a pair of blokes you could have a pint and a craic with.

Cheers.

Seen him on TV a few weeks back, looked frail and not long for this earth. Can’t say I was a big fan but liked the series they did around the med a few years ago. 66 is young to die now but he seemed to have led a pretty full life, not withstanding his marrying a Romanian mother of two, which apparently hasn’t pleased everyone. He certainly had a passion for his scran and probably made a decent living out of what he could knock together. RIP Dave Myers.

If you don't care one jot, why comment at all, let alone a comment that's just cuntish and wrong. Where is this young girl he found and married as a sex tourist? Where did you get this information from? Must have been a previous marriage maybe? Please tell....

Been watching their new series and they were very close to here the past couple of weeks. Not many tv shows nowadays don't get on my tits and the hairy bikers seemed decent blokes.

 RIP Dave

I remember when the Hairy Bikers 1st came on the tele and reading critiques/TV show reviews with comments along the lines of "would anyone really want to eat anything prepared by these sweaty northerners?" PC was in full swing by then but there was one section of the population that the media were allowed to be discriminatory and prejudiced against. White working class men. Even better if they were straight and from the north. Nothing has changed.

THB's picked up on this and the next series whilst being filmed cooking outside in Spain or wherever  over a gas hob they would often make a point of trying to wipe the sweat from their foreheads and comment such as " we're in Spain, it's 30+ degrees, the gas is hot, we have washed our hands but sorry about the sweating thing, we are two fat lads. "

The media darlings of cooking programmes at the time were Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey. Two foul mouthed balloons who if they spoke to people in real life the way that they  spoke in their TV programmes would get put on their arse. Including the dinner ladies that Jamie Oliver tried to "educate". In the mean time THB's kept on getting recommissioned.

Oliver reinvented himself as a caring sharing family man and stopped the ridiculous foul mouthed macho shenanigans (you cook food FFS!), and Ramsey has been relegated to car crash reality TV. No doubt both are still making millions of £'s. But THB's made it to main stream pre- watershed TV and, and I know this is subjective, became loved by the great British public. Up there with Fanny Cradock, Delia and Floyd.

RIP Dave.
