My lurchers are 5 1/2 and 1 and both suffer with it they both dance around with the stings for about 2 hours when they get back in . All my dogs over the years suffered with it. Could do with a keen frost to kill them back.

I do have anti inflamatrie tablets but I do not think It would do them no good giving them to them nearly every day ,I suppose Piriton would be better . I wondered if there was any cream available? All the fields on the shoots around my house are still surrounded by nettles. so its almost a daily occurance. :(

When my dogs have been out working with me on the shoot or lamping , one of my dogs suffers badly with swollen feet from nettle stings. I am on the shoot with them everyday, this is a problem as this dog now lives in the house .as she whines and dash,s about the house because of her swollen feet.

As this section of the forum is for working dog health I considered it a valid question .

Admitadly its not a really seriuose ailment but something which I thought was a genuine question which is a nuisanse on a daily basis, and which 2 genuine dogmen replied to originally.

At least my dods are worked regularly and give me great sport and service, and in return I like to look after them as best as possible.

If you don,t agree with this post don,t reply to it as I was asking for Advice not a slanging match from people trying to prove how hard they and there dogs are! There again you probably never experience many problems on concrete!

Just ignore a couple of the previous replies to your thread from past reading some folk on here a fecking absolute wanker's..and need deleting of the forum full stop if all's they have come on here to do is take the piss.. :realmad: ..

On the nettled feet bit mate there's not much you can do about it..ive dog's of all ages and in mid summer when the nettle's are really strong my dog's wont go any where near them unless they are chasing something..

They choose to go round nettles even if it's a long way round they will do it..

I had a terrier year's ago that stopped in the house and after a walk out it would almost rip the carpet through trying to itch its feet...it's feet would swell up and go red hot..all's i used to do with him when it was really bad is just keep sticking his feet in a bowl of cool water and it seemed to work..

Not too worry though with this frost we are getting the nettle's will all be down soon.. :good: ..

Millet

at least your honest mate

The reason I thought this was shite was because my dogs are kennelled and Im not affected by the scratchings of nettles stings in the house .Never gave it a thought that other people would be affected. As to my account of my dig,I may not be the best at putting actions into readable text but it was a true account of what occured.Like I said before ,anybody wishing to have a dig down with us is more than welcome .Im sure we could set up a secure meet somehow .Cant say fairer than that can I.Mik from whales -COME ON DOWN.
