what would you spend 2k on mate ? new seat cover plastics graphics pads etc don’t cost much the rest is clean paint new bearings seals in the engine maybe rings or new rod only really if crank piston barrel head is shot  it gets expensive

your be surprised mate once you start doing stuff properly using quality parts or using specialist to do stuff for you I could burn 2k easily on building a mx bike that little yz I’ve just done I’ve nearly 2k in restoration on that and that was supposed to be a budget build

i just use genuine bearings your seal kits gaskets normally mitaka there genuine is always go cast genuine piston over forged were i can but either is cheap con rod 60 ish quid if you true it or 120 if you send it in

only think does my head in is  sending the barrel off to be oversized re nikasil

Those little pws seem to hold there money quite well. Least your doing a bit a couple of hours is better than not doing nowt mate. I’m gunna be on the lookout after Xmas is out the way for another mx bike just seems every one for sale they want strong money for them there’s no money in them to restore them a lot of the time you can’t break even your restoring them at a loss

Its very easy to get carried away when doing a refurb, God i should know, i have done it times. spent far to much money Lol. There are bargain's to be had, but are getting more difficult to find, This one as i said is for the Grandkids so the money does not really matter, safety is more important,  The same with the little KH100 its just for me to keep busy and motivated, The PW50 suffered from "The China Voodoo curse" this morning, fitted a new stator, reg/rectifier, Diode, Run unit and start/stop/run switch. No frigging spark Lol. Tested all the parts, all tested fine, Checked all the plugs and connectors for loose pins and that, Checked the coil and HT lead, cleaned the spark plug, Still no spark, Went and made a cuppa, upon getting back into the shed i thought i would give it another try and it sparked up like a good un. No idea what was wrong Lol. Progressed on a bit further today, Just the front end to do now, The decals have also been removed since this picture was taken,

Ill be looking out for another bike to build after Xmas is out the way I fancy building a keeper for my self something completely metal I like the 1999-2002 kx250

As i said i have a KH100 to do but i would love a KH250 or bigger but the cost is just not justifiable at the minute. The last DT125 i did a few years ago i went mad on. cost me over two grand without my labour and i lost money on it, If i had somewhere to keep them all i would possibly do them all to that standard but thats just my OCD Lol,

That looks mint mate👌🏽I’m the same i want to keep them all but lack of space means I have to sell one to make space for the next plus it frees up funds to fold in to the next project

i more try to put old ones to genuine how you would a bought them ive that 87 ktm 250 well ahead of its time and the japs i’ll try to do standard engine together frame neearly there to start building the rest is cleaning polishing vapour blasting just waiting on bearings for linkage swinging arm some bushes need making on lathe basket case 500 quid then  250 clutch cover hard to find 300 gaskets seals bearings and piston barrel 200 quid i won’t get near 2k cost maybe 25 quid to blast the frame and paint it 2k IMG_0784.png.a58f13bae679734eef530b1179e8d0b4.png

one i’ll put aftermarket bits on is this  cr500 engine into an rmz 450 alloy frame like the pastrana has been a few month getting bits 550 for full rolling chassis rmz IMG_0799.png.086a5f978355f69963851b38892cb0c2.png

2700 in these billet crankcases with hydraulic clutch conversion brand new one barrel  billet 2 piece head with decompression valve billet slave cylinder and forgedpiston IMG_0789.jpeg.e972c3f3351d0697ad8bbbc99052c480.jpegIMG_0787.jpeg.f7e60740e7c2acfa8c01dca362216743.jpegIMG_0804.png.1551a929a12685aae2b42425059e73b6.pngIMG_0796.jpeg.e82d38a38ca09582c0f858fc3784dd7b.jpegIMG_0795.jpeg.53a0d09bfb50fa9f857b1f8409da3604.jpegIMG_0794.jpeg.70caaf4bcf669ae021e95f7db1502707.jpegthen gearbox and most hardware i need 300 quid bar clutch and a crankshaft i still need to sort and all bearing seals etc so IMG_0785.png.d073fb96a43ea7c478a4784bf6ac433b.pngshould be done well before 5k just cr 500 engines can fetch that

I recon your get close to 2k mate on that ktm  if your £1250 deep so far by the time you gone through everything else and all the misc parts but I guess that’s down to what you want to run with or what your happy to go again with. That cr500 build looks mental mate 👌🏽

Most trials bikes are a pain in the arse as they all suffer with the same issues. Beta use shit carbs, they purchased a job lot years ago from Mikuni and fitted them to all there bikes for years. They were shite, Pissed fuel everywhere as the vacuum pipe design was flawed and would not start unless the bike was on a flat surface, The old Aprilia climber and the old Gas Gas were hard to beat.
