Will put it in the fishing section as well but chew valley res near Bristol has just done the British record

Yeah...McHull was holding it!! Lol

I used to trim cork to the shape of a chum mixer for surface fishing, it’s all I used. Had fish to 30lb off the top that way, used to do a lot of surface fishing because frankly, other people did

The Blackwater was lifting with them a few years ago Len, drop a Mackrel on the bottom give it five minutes and you'd have ten of them hanging on it.

Signals or indigenous Crays mate ?

Just had a look...no signals have been recorded in Ireland Len ,you only have the white natives,so they must gather ,over here they are like rocking horse shit,👍

Natives dont gather in mass and strip bait Len,they are tiny in comparison to signals 👍

Used to be an old chalk pit near me called Arena Essex, lifting with Crays and chocka block with weed.

Couple of my pals were fishing there prior to a big fish kill they had and they used those wooden balls you used to buy out of craft shops as pop ups, drilled holes for a hair, left them soaking in bait dip permanently and bingo…..Crays couldn’t touch them.

For some reason most carp anglers can’t seem to get their head round surface fishing.

30lb common off the top on a bit of cork.

Funny you should say that we were in France at a caravan park on holiday big carp lake boys there with the best of gear …. We bought some telescopic rods and some stale hard bread from the wee shop the left overs from the day before and just let it float on the top we were pulling carp out for fun… they weren’t amused there a strange old type those carp boys lol

We used to pre bait for them over a few days, using chopped fish, oils etc same as you...then fish with 'popped up' kebab rigs...my biggest pike to date is 24lb 3 oz...👍

My best was 28lbs Sean on a wobbled brown trout, had a few low twenties from the same stretch and my best brown trout of 7lbs 7oz came out 100 yards down stream where the river shollowed into lovely fast water.
