Couple of my pals were fishing there prior to a big fish kill they had and they used those wooden balls you used to buy out of craft shops as pop ups, drilled holes for a hair, left them soaking in bait dip permanently and bingo…..Crays couldn’t touch them. Had fish to 30lb off the top that way, used to do a lot of surface fishing because frankly, other people didn’t ! For some reason most carp anglers can’t seem to get their head round surface fishing. 30lb common off the top on a bit of cork. Edited February 13 by WILF

Funny you should say that we were in France at a caravan park on holiday big carp lake boys there with the best of gear …. We bought some telescopic rods and some stale hard bread from the wee shop the left overs from the day before and just let it float on the top we were pulling carp out for fun… they weren’t amused there a strange old type those carp boys lol 1

My best was 28lbs Sean on a wobbled brown trout, had a few low twenties from the same stretch and my best brown trout of 7lbs 7oz came out 100 yards down stream where the river shollowed into lovely fast water.
