He is blue whippet and big boned muscular type that’s seen a far bit of work, I know you said ideally collie lurcher but the offer is there if you want to use him. Has sired pups before and they came out very tidy animals. Thanks, good to know! Quote Link to post

I've heard whippets can be a bit harder than the ones with a bit of collie or herding in them. I've been a bit spoiled with mine, she'll pick up anything without hardly needing training. Never trained her how to catch a rabbit or a squirrel but she gets a couple a week. Here's one she got this morning! 1 Quote Link to post

Haha yeah, for sure! She's not in it usually other than for walking round town. But went up Devils Dyke and there were sheep roaming and it was the only collar I had on me! 1 Quote Link to post

He is a bit prey driven, but is rock solid with livestock and children and very easy generally. Doubt any pure sight hound would be as biddable as a collie but I reckon they would make very useful and attractive pups if you did decide to put him over her. Lovely lurcher you have and sounds like the classic mooching dog, just picks up game as and when it gets the chance. Those types of dogs don’t really need training for hunting it’s just instinct. 1 Quote Link to post

I really like the look of your bitch . I think if you put a decent whippet or grew over her you will get a good % of decent workers. I just have the one grew and two terriers now and she follows at heel everywhere I go, extremely obedient, one man dog and a surprisingly good watch dog, also very good in the house and quiet. It's the time and energy you put in, more than formal training that makes them good dogs which you obviously have done. 1 Quote Link to post
