Guest SJM
Do we need to own whippets to have an opinion like? Quote Link to post
Guest little lurcher
no you dont , was making a relevent observation? people with whippets will tend to know the person behind the name or dog, and several have made comments towards mike etc so was wondering of those making comments how many had whippets , the next question i would have asked would have been are any of yours related to sooty sam? not quite sue why i got a bit of attitude????!!! i cant truly comment ( which is why i wont) on mike brown as i dont speak to him or in fact know him , but several of my fellow working whippet owners all have stock relating to his dogs and these are people i know reg work their dogs not just odd catches? i work my whippets regularly and i am pleased with the results but if i then bred my bitch and her pups went on to do very well and then the grandpups , am i in the wrong or the people selling their pups on my back? which is what i can see happening to mike brown, he is accused of allsorts y people whom have never met or spoken to the man nor have they been to his place or watch him work so how are they justified in their actions??? from what i can make out from people who did know sooty sam and had seen him work, were highly praising him and therefore his demand as a stud dog went up and look at his breeding to , he was bred to do the job, with the age of the internet a reputation can be built or lost , the dog was talked aout a lot , done the job it was red for and therefore used at stud , its the current trend of having a name behind your dogs which makes the wanna be`s go out and breed any old dog to any old bitch coz thingy off the net said so , but in sooty sams case , people were out watching what the dog could do , and then used as a stud dog Quote Link to post
whippetmike 3
i own whippets and none of them have laguna in them my bitch is 2 1/2 yaers now and is one of the best runningdogs i'v ever owned i'm only 30 which is still along way to go for me. but back to the point i'v never met mike brown or spoke i never saw sooty run but there must of been something about the dog to be born 17years ago and still people talkin about him well done to mike ps the next time i part with money for a whippet it will be one off mike brown maybe a nice black dog to put abit of laguna into my line Quote Link to post

marko 30
quote reload. Hes famous as a prolific stud dog, from a kennel that produces at least 2 litters a year, took Fox Rabbit Hare is about as much as I can ascertain..Nothing that special TBH Not many people can breed a guaranteed 2 litters a year and keep one for there own use, train and work them?? So It makes sense WHY soo many pups are coming out with the name Sooty sam attached to them...££££££££, The Laguna thing is a con too, its some elses affix, built on a OLD reputation by someone else. Marketing, and a name is what your buying into.... I am not saying they are not good and wont do the job, but they are just reasonable whippets no extra ordinary special strain of Working whippets, unless someone would like to point out the difference thanks for the best and honest answer upto now,to many people wanting to comment on heresay and what other people say,i prefer it when people say i have been out with this dog and seen what it can do any way for the record the black whippet has sooty lines in it aswell as laguna/nimrodel and lets just say when he is out he is constantly on the look out for anything that he can lay his teeth on quite a joy to watch and a great assett might i add to the team even if he dont like water and shivers when its freezing.
