Backandbeyond 104
Right lads interested on your thoughts on racy bull greyhounds as all rounders? Can't decide what my next dog should be. Was initially considering going down the saluki bull greyhound route but recently seen a 1/4 bull 3/4 greyhound and also a 3/8 5/8th bull greyhound and really liked the look of them. Nice, strong and racy. Looking for a good all-rounder but something that has a brain too and knows when to use it. Mainly lamping and daytime for bigger things. Cheers Quote Link to post
Moonlighter123 155
Definitely add the Saluki if you want an all rounder.. will probably have better feet, sometimes a better coat, more stamina, less injury prone sometimes as they have a bit more fluid running style. 3 Quote Link to post
dodger 2,751
You could do alot worse than am out n out well tested lamper x coursing dog should a litter such as that pop up 3 Quote Link to post
Blackmag 6,038
I would go more 5/8 3/8 bull x to a courser but that's just me 5 Quote Link to post
Backandbeyond 104
Cheer lads. Yes I think the stamina added by the saluki is a good addition and running style too that's been mentioned. I did run a saluki bull grey for a couple of years about a decade ago and he was mustard on the deer but was not that keen on teeth although he got involved just wasn't that committed to them. I think the bull added makes the difference no end. I'm open to either sbg or bull grey but just needs to be from parents that are doing big edibles but I know most dogs would do anyway with either of those crosses. Just to find a decent pup is my challenge! Let me know lads if anythings in the pipeline. Genuine working home here and will put money to mouth when the time comes Quote Link to post
Whoknows 162
The right amount of saluki is belting in a bull x. The wrong sort or amount is a headache but then I’m a simple creature who likes simple creatures. 3 Quote Link to post

Abullx 136
Me personally would just go bull grey aslong as it’s around 3/8 they should do what you need and that way you don’t have the saluki in it second guessing to take the rabbit 1 1 Quote Link to post

Whoknows 162
Best dog I’ve ever run was a bull Grey back to a saluki bull grey, just had that touch of saluki, looked like a 28 inch racy bull cross but with the lungs and feet of a saluki. Was a bull x in attitude and working style but ram like an Exocet missile and did it over and over again. I’ve never seen a dog catch game like it. Sadly he was dead before he was four. First slip of the first proper night of the season, made a hell A catch on a big angry lad and then had a heart attack on my arms. Luckily his blood live on. Don’t discount that drop of saluki or collie in your bull Dog. 5 Quote Link to post

I did run a saluki bull greyhound a while back that did well all-round but did lack the drive that I seen in just bull greyhounds for real drive and determination Quote Link to post
