we've been trying to fight for our country for some years but not in the way the people at the top want, now they want the people at the bottom to fight to protect what the people at the top have😠

Why would Russia invade us? Because our elites keep telling you they might?  The same elites that told all those young men that they were giving up their lives for 'freedom and democracy'? O

Quite easy, not a dinghies chance in a storm, the enemy is within, the left, weirdos, royals, just about everything wrong with society today, nahhh ill leave it to the anarchists, protestors and the r

Everybody is a prisoner to their experiences of life. I've never met a member of the 'officer class' who I didn't despise for their  misplaced confidence and general world view which seems to entail them being entitled to all decision making. When they divide pies they think they can take 3/4 of it themselves.

The culture I was brought up in dictated you never crawl to the teacher or to the boss man. I still, believe that. Sorry if that's offensive to some but that's my opinion and this is a forum where opinions are exchanged.

Interesting point, so here is my take.

Now, I don’t like David Moyes as a manager, I loathe his football, I don’t particularly find his career that much to get excited about…..in football terms, I don’t like the bloke.

But if I sat in a room with him and he was talking football I’d listen, and I’d listen out of respect for a bloke who has done something I couldn’t and didn’t and has done it for a long time at the highest level possible …..I’d be self aware and humble  enough as a man  to understand that, I’d respect the fact that at that particular thing or set of things he is better than me.

Id feel no less a person for the experience.
Imho, it’s says more about your own insecurities that you can’t acknowledge genuine achievement than it does about anything else…..

He is my pal and as my pal I have access to his reports and many awards because we obviously talk about them and I have seen them.

Its the difference between knowing and making stuff up mate ;)

But Moyes is chalk and cheese to the public school/ Sandhurst lot. He came from nothing, has actually played the game and is a highly successful manager, whatever you think about his tactics. If he were my boss in the army I would follow him over the top. But my nightmare would be told to go over the top by some Blackadder whilst he had a cup of tea nice and safe in his bunker.

A rare moment of insight Mc. You are thriving under CP's guidance. You'll be singing the red flag soon.

He’d be better off learning the State Anthem Of The Russian Federation for when Labour decommission our armed forces and nuclear deterrent , leaves NATO and invites their Russian friends in !

The only Russian words he needs to know are “tovarwich” and “spasibo”.

Cheers.

Where are you getting this idea about some public school sandhurst lot?….your just making it up !

It May have been the case in 1900 but it’s not now and hasn’t been since the Second World War !

Paddy Mayne was like an accountant or something and he started the SAS !……where are you getting this from mate ? Lol

I have it on good authority that McHull has a quick stroll round Russia as his morning walk.

Many officer have won bravery awards for “going over the top” with their men; Colonel “H” Jones springs to mind.

He was awarded a posthumous VC, even though he shouldn’t have done it.

Cheers.

I checked this morning the social composition of  Sandhurst. It's 65/35  in favour of public schools. This is way  more socially balanced  than it used to be. Public school educated kids make up 7% of the population. So they seem to find twice the number of suitable candidates from that elite 7%.

I think it would be naive to assume the comprehensive kids don't face a glass ceiling when the real top jobs are on offer.

Personally I would like all recruits to go through the same training for a least two years and officers chosen from their ranks regardless of background. But british society doesn't work that way.

There used to be an award for bravery beyond that expected of rank or words to that effect. That gives you an insight into the social apartheid of the British army.

But you cannot argue from the particular to the general. You must look at the  stats. Play the ball not the man.
