salukiman 28
i gave my old mate a call and asked if i could go out for a shine over his land,as always he told me the rules and i agreed. it got to 10 oclock and i couldnt wait any longer, drissiling with rain and constant wind, perfect. out comes by beddi/whippet,wellies on lamp charged and off we go. i knew it was going to be good as soon as we arived. driving down the lane to where i park there were a gathering of red deer.the dog spotted them and went crazy jumping all over the car and scratching the dash. when ever i see these deer i have had a good night cause there presence means that the land hasnt seen any one on it and bunnies can be found in thier normal places. as expected wallking on to the first field (which is getting a bit long now for my bitch 19 tts )rabbits siting close to the edge about 40 feet away dog slipped and were away. turning the last rabbit in its bid for the hole back out into the field two more turns and squeek good strike and a rabbit for the dogs. we carried on walking and odly 3 deer came through the top of the field at pace and exit at the other end. didnt think much of it at the time although the dog wanted some. around the corner and lamp on two more sets of eyes lit up and she was on her way again going left out of the beem and cutting back in to take a squatter this time she was straight back to me and dropped it at my feet. i was well chuffed cause her retrive is hit and miss. quick shine and we were off to the next field, walking around the corner i got that distinctive smell and knew the wouldnt be anything in the next field as there was a fox.i was right and after a little squeeking we got a real good look at it.big dog fox it looked a fine specimen, shame i didnt bring a friend as it would look even better back at home in the next field we came across mr long ears i watched him for a seccond but dont run them out of respect for the land owners rules. permission is hard to get easy to loose. then my tale takes a turn for the worst and the next 3 fields which are nornally the most productive were void of life this is strange as there is always a run to be had here even in the worst conditions.dog is still game and i push on into the next field. lamp on and there is the reason for the lack of quarry, a very unwelcome old bill 4x4 with trailer but no coppers.down the tree fringed field and through the bush, into the darkness and hassel avoided so i thought. the sound of a motor gets closer and head lights break onto the track leading to the car and a copper apears on a quad races up to me and demarnds that the dog is brought under controll which takes the piss as my soft natured little bitch is shitting herself and is only a danger to bunnies. arragant wa***r wont let me explain and is hell bent on nicking me,when his partner arives and calms things down.at least he has some common sence and lets me produce my written permission.they question it as it is in two hand writing styles and i explain the land owner is dislecsic the tosser says convienent and marches me to the farm house to meet the owner who greets us at the gates. anyway after a couple of mins the old bill get and i get a cuppa . victory in the fight for our sport. skycat 6,173
Any lads running in Cambridgeshire need to watch out too: I was told by a friend that the police even think that chasing rabbits with dogs is illegal! Quote Link to post

minion 29
If you had time to spare you should have refused to go to the land owners house. You do not need to go with the police unless they formaly charge you. I would have made them charge me or beat it. There is no chance it would get to court as you have permission. It would be thrown out and the police officer would have plenty paperwork to keep him occupied as well as a roasting from his superiors. Alot of police officers are little hitlers and need brought down a peg or two! Edited February 4, 2008 by minion Quote Link to post
lamper12 30
me and a mate was out with the ferrets on saturday and bumped into the game keeper  and we was on a bridlepath he asked if we would stop because of his partridge and then give us permission to ferret another field up the road so we thought what a nice fella.so off we trudge back down the hill to the motor we sit down on a rock in no hurry matey has a fag run the ferret throgh a quick set and then start off again only to find the old bill by the motor plod jumps out asks for details so then back up comes, dopey cu*t asks what it is hanging from my belt i said well it isnt a hair and he had 5 minuites to decide it was a rabbit they let us go we drive off pass the field the keeper gave us permission no holes not evan a scrape the SLY f****r Edited February 4, 2008 by lamper12 Quote Link to post

Flaming heck, talk about ignorant. Sounds a bit like the cops over here, would not know a rabbit, if it came up and shook hands with them. Victory Salukiman. Hope you get no more hassel again. minion 29
Fortunatly most police officers don't like to get out of their warm cars on a cold night. Quote Link to post
Guest markbrick1
well all i can say we never get any trouble down here police fine, ive met up with them on my travells several times there more interested in how the dogs catch the rabbits then anything else but most people with lurchers down here are into the shows not the working side,so not many in the fields at night, all the better for me,mark Quote Link to post
