I've got to agree mate, I think everything is a pain in the ass now...from parking your car, using some shit app...no thanks I keep some coins in my truck fir that... paying with your phone...again no thanks, my Mrs and kids don't get why I don't put my card on my phone, I have a company debit card, a personal debit card and some cash... that's easy for me... I hate on live form filling, I never shop on line, this is the only place I yap on the Internet, I only came on here about 16 years ago to buy a dog, found the place interesting and kept at it...f**k fb, insta, twitter etc... I used to like going in a travel agents and booking a holiday, I liked looking in estate agents windows when we were after our first house, our local fishing shop has gone, it was nationally recognised and my old very good friend (sadly died) who owned the place designed and manufactured possibly the best rods ever for match and coarse angling (Normark), everyone knew about them around the country and overseas, way before the Internet... the shop couldn't compete in the end with the online world, it truly saddens me, it was a great place to spend an hour and get any local info you wanted, my first "proper" job as well... the list goes on...I think we survived perfectly well without the Internet, and as much as its great (I use it everyday for work) I wish we never had it.... ffs, I get young blokes coming to stay who can't even light a fire, never been off a game or phone...my Mrs or lad has to show grown men how to make and light a fire.... but they can use both thumbs when typing shit on their phone, and their beard and tats look great!! 🙄 lol

I don’t know if it’s changed but when I used to deal with the Plymouth Brethren they never used computers or mobile phones…..and they were flying at their businesses.

Just gos to show, maybe it’s not as essential as we think it is.

I like cash and will use it as long as I can. Hate going somewhere to park where meters are card or phone app, that wrong. Cash is the legal tender and you should be aloud to use it everywhere with no exception.

Cheers Arry

Theres a village down here where theres a large communityof them Plymouth Brethren.A neighbour of mine who I did season on a shoot with picking up got right in with them doing their building work. They own a very successful timber merchants in Canterbury and Ive heard stories that theyll ban anyone who swears in there.I helped him pour some footings for an extension on one of their houses and at the time they didnt use computers or mobiles and im pretty certain they didnt have tele's either.I remember getting my site radio out after an hour and Bill telling me to put it away as we weren't allowed a radio on their jobs

Yeah it's shit when you notice things like that in the younger generation . I had a 18 year lad working for me for a year and he was a good kid but he made me feel old . We were taking down some old stud walls in a old house and anybody that has done it before knows that their will be newspapers rammed in loads of places to fill gaps . We found 2 whole copies of newspapers from the 70s . My first port of call is to check the back pages and see what was happening in the football back them . The lad just looked at it and said " so did you used to just sit around and read these ? " . He'd never read a newspaper in his life . I only 39 but I felt so old when he said that. Apparently none of his mates had read them or even gave them a second thought . I then had to school him what a porn mag was and how precious they were and difficult to get hold of . He couldn't wrap his head that their was a time porn wasn't available 24/7

On the horse yard where my Mrs and daughter have their horses theirs the most amazing conker tree that every year drops hundreds all over the yard in great condition . Every year I will pick up 50 or so good ones and put them in my van and whenever im chatting to mates somewhere I will off-load them to anybody who wants them . I made a couple of ropes up and took half hour off work to show the young lad how it was played . He loved it , again never played it or even heard of it . He's got a top step father and a great dad but somewhere over the years that little game wasn't passed down to him and I'm sure it's the same for most of the youth it's not really their fault it's older generations not passing down the information .

Maybe it doesn't really matter but it does feel a deep shame to me . I think for me it's the realisation now that I'm older that the times I had as a kid were so much more exciting  than anything adulthood can give you

It's weird mate..I bet you did feel old when the young lad said that..

Today's youth just haven't done any of the things we done as kids. It's hard to get your head around it..

Tickling trout..making bow and arrows or Dutch arrows. Shooting an air rifle.. and loads more..and as you say conkers etc..there things we done was just the norm back in the day..today's young lads..just live on there phones..sad times Indeed

Can only imagine the enjoyment the little ones are having staring at them kites mate..thats all that matters in the whole world is that kite for how ever long its flying for..

An empty pop can on a fence post and get them to stand back about 15ft throwing stones..they won't give up until than can has been hit lol.

I really miss my 3 lads when they were young..the enthusiasm for anything was brilliant..up the forest lighting camp fires..spinning for trout..river swimming..and loads more..amazing times mate..and people say they don't stay kids for long..and I remember thinking numerous times. They won't grow up that fast..but by Christ they do..

I know you will be flat out with the kids all summer mate..enjoy because it doesn’t last forever..feck I'm that person saying that now lol..
