Just gos to show, maybe it’s not as essential as we think it is.

He's never flown a kite in his life. and has never swam in the sea.. Sad state of affairs ffs.. Yeah it's shit when you notice things like that in the younger generation . I had a 18 year lad working for me for a year and he was a good kid but he made me feel old . We were taking down some old stud walls in a old house and anybody that has done it before knows that their will be newspapers rammed in loads of places to fill gaps . We found 2 whole copies of newspapers from the 70s . My first port of call is to check the back pages and see what was happening in the football back them . The lad just looked at it and said " so did you used to just sit around and read these ? " . He'd never read a newspaper in his life . I only 39 but I felt so old when he said that. Apparently none of his mates had read them or even gave them a second thought . I then had to school him what a porn mag was and how precious they were and difficult to get hold of . He couldn't wrap his head that their was a time porn wasn't available 24/7 On the horse yard where my Mrs and daughter have their horses theirs the most amazing conker tree that every year drops hundreds all over the yard in great condition . Every year I will pick up 50 or so good ones and put them in my van and whenever im chatting to mates somewhere I will off-load them to anybody who wants them . I made a couple of ropes up and took half hour off work to show the young lad how it was played . He loved it , again never played it or even heard of it . He's got a top step father and a great dad but somewhere over the years that little game wasn't passed down to him and I'm sure it's the same for most of the youth it's not really their fault it's older generations not passing down the information . Maybe it doesn't really matter but it does feel a deep shame to me . I think for me it's the realisation now that I'm older that the times I had as a kid were so much more exciting than anything adulthood can give you 7

Today's youth just haven't done any of the things we done as kids. It's hard to get your head around it.. Tickling trout..making bow and arrows or Dutch arrows. Shooting an air rifle.. and loads more..and as you say conkers etc..there things we done was just the norm back in the day..today's young lads..just live on there phones..sad times Indeed
