A harbor boat this time

Recommended Posts

Welp got on another boat now. My boats in the ship yard so they split us up and where all over the place ,some got on line haul , some are tanking barges, some black oil and here I am on a harbor boat now. It's actually a higman boat just like mine so other then the engines it's about identical . It does alot of short stop type work, go get this barge from here take it to there , move these around , help this boat build tow, how this barge against the bank while this boat gets supplies ect. All within less then 30min to 1hr  of the dock. Apparently they also do a bit of tanking.Deal is as far as tanking all I've ever done is dirty cargo ,more specifically crude oil. With us it's two barges usually tandem transfer , that's it. Well the pilot just explained to be that this boat kind specializes in everything. Especially a certain type of barge that can have like up to 8 separate types of cargo and many times they will off load or take on all of it at the same time . Here's the deal though. Just about Every type of cargo has different requirements. Some is literal  poison ,some stuff you can let spill in the water because it's harmless apparently, some is static accumulating and can potentially explode, well most tof these barges are basically bombs but some are more volatile, so you have to fill and off load a certain way . And again all I've ever messed with is crude Sooo yeah this should be fun,  that being said though the crew is really chill and they all assure me it's not as hard as I think especially if I'm used to working a shift solo, which I am so yeah. Also will give me a chance to knock out a lot of spaces on my exon sheet so I can work on my next raise.....well once I actually get cut loose that is lol

Also funny enough this I where I did all my training so it's been interesting being back piddling around here , even saw one of my old teachers and training boat guys. They seemed pretty happy to see me which , idk man I just really like my job. Was cool being able to talk to the new guys ( and gals)doing their fleet training .

A " minge"? That's one of your more pleasant insults.

Cheers bud, you're very restrained tonight. Thought you might have gone full " lefty Liberal, black- loving sympathiser, tax raising, cancer at the heart of this country, commie c**t" . However the night is young. Lol

It wasn’t an insult, it was an accurate description.

The blokes been in the military and war zones, he don’t need to be treated like a fragile little egg by you boys in the darkie protection brigade…..I’m sure he has heard worse.

I think that your depiction of me is a tad unjust. I don't like bullying, even if there's the Atlantic between you.

I'm sure the guy can stand up for himself, but as a neutral observer, I am entitled to an opinion on a post.

If I'm in the darkie protection brigade you are in Klu klux clan ...nazi division.

Size difference between a smaller bunker boat and your average tanker. Bunker boat/barges basically are Mobile gas/lube stations. They carry barges similar to our ,with various lube oils and fuel ab basically just pull up to the ships and give them what they need. They work directly with foreign deck crews and apparently each nationality has its own quirks so apparently

With Russians you better know how to cuss someone out and be assertive and not be a baby back bitch because to will try and fight is they think your weak and try to tell them what to do

The Indians, nice but language barrier, though apparently they will try to ask for you if they like you

The guys from the Philippines apparently are just funny and easy to deal with all the way around

And apparently the Chinese, egh alot of guy just rolled their eyes about those ships so yeah take that for what you will
