The amount of surface water coming off the hills and fields around my way is beyond, took a short cut through the country lanes ,to cut out the traffic in Cardiff...couldnt cross the rhumney river on 2 different bridges, because the rivers out into the fields and a good 2/3 ft deep across the road🙄...I wasnt going through it in the wives VRS.... Still gives me shit about the 2 month old Astra I wrote off going through a puddle at the bottom of my street 15 yrs ago🙈

Its defiantly a wet and windy but rather mild winter, Christmas day was the warmest recorded since 1920, Round here the water table never really dropped through last summer, Our grass never even went brown, The fields are just bogs and go anywhere near a river and its just impossible to get anywhere,

It's certainly come down over last couple of days here, I use app for river swim , it's manageable at .9 m at this spot currently you'd be swept away fairly rapid.. it's about metre over averageScreenshot_20231227-202248-645.png.56258fa8dfc019af5aadb359ef869385.png

I've just let the log burner go out it's so warm.

Can imagine some local hunts must be struggling.....not been able to take horses on some country for months as it's just bog. Lancashire is always wet but this is getting silly

We are shooting Friday and the landowner is coming along with 3 lads off neighbouring farms.....was hoping to impress them but it's going to be hard work.

Don't know if I don't enjoy it as always looking over shoulder, or just bored of going to the same old places ....I guess working away kills any regular structure of hobbies etc. two young lads to entertain, sports mad. My dog days are done for the foreseeable I think.

The spark and hunger will always be there and difficult to turn your back on

Probably never be the same for most and yes going to the same places can definitely become boring, have you tried walking your spots differently not just for a change but creating an element of surprise for any potential quarry.

Sometimes it's just good to be out but at at the end of the day my outlook would be as long as the boys are good that's the main thing as in past years iv been stupidly obsessively keen on hunting and although I'm still passionate about it and is one of the main parts of my life there really is more to life also.
