Guest HAWKEYE
Run a treadmill..then next nite run the road...your leg back and neck muscles will appreciate it...You are training out of your natural poise on a treadmill..not a good thing...Plus the muscle your building by doing it in the first place...we have all seen big huge muscled dogs cramping ? is too much roadwork / treadmill to blame? I much prefer 1/2 hr off the lead running in a field to miles of roadwork anyday ...Just my method that I find enjoyable and time well spent with the mutts... Quote Link to post
shaun v 3
if anyone does get a mill, make sure that the dog gets road work aswell just to toughen there feet, because over use of the mill will give the dog splayed feet and weaken them, but correct use is valuable to conditioning of the dog, if i had the room i would def get another, just to put them on for 10 mins a day using the maxinum gradient Quote Link to post
Kye 77
When i was back home, i hardly done any road work, i was too busy working the dog..lol. If you did that over here, the dog would be dead in a week...the ground is so bad, that the only thing that keeps them sound is loads of road work...i tell you what though, there stopper pads get a hammering!...ive tried everything, even tapping them up and strapping them...one or two turns and it just comes off...any ideas? Kye,.. Quote Link to post
Guest mush
I used vet-rap on a bitch that lost her stopper took a few times to get it right, worked great after that. Quote Link to post

brock 11
ive seen olympic athletes and professional rugby players use tredmills, running machines etc in the gym i use. i think one would be handy now and again if you really didnt have time to exercise the dogs, but personally i like walking and getting the dogs fit myself, then you can take more pride out of them when they are running well, treadmills are the easy way out. socks 32,253
a treadmill is fals economy running everytime your foot leaves the floor the belt is still turning underneath you so when you do say 3 k's in all probability you are only running 2 .... like has been said do a run on the treadmill and do the same distance on the road ... believe me you will know the difference ...........
