most iv eseen are hand made steel shaft with square or round mouths welded on em,have nt seen any in shops

Mate of mine got his from Wickes or B & Q, metal shaft and was square ended but he ground it off round. He swears by it

 

I prefer the ex Army ones myself.

i got mine from bellman & flint they do roundmouths and grafters £25 each

make one up yourself just weld a stainless bolt into the roundmouth head and get some steam pipe and weld a nut inside that weld a t bar on it and away you go just the job for those quiet jobs

stay away from the bellman and flint of what iv heared, a mate of mine picked me a grafter up off them in the mids last year i aint going to chance it im sending it back for a refund i heared they are changing their suppliers tho the 1s they supply at present is silverline

i still got the silverline sticker on my grafter its going back not even chancing it to dig my vegetables up

anyone know a supplier for Caterpillar shovels, i got 2 a few years back and they were great, i'd buy a few more in a flash

bellman and flint have now changed their suppliers !!!i sent back the blue shovel as the head snapped off during a dig on boxing day they were only to happy to send me another but this one was from caldwells.i have only had it out ferreting so far with a 3 foot dig being the deepest but it seems a lot better than the old ones.out with terrier today so hope to test it further!!!

I brought a good shovel made by bulldog.. if u go on their web site u can pick the 1 u want as pictures on it then ring the number and they will give u a number of a supplier who will mail order it 4 u.. i found it first class....
