Had one a couple of decades ago and a mate had one a couple of years later, haven't seen one since. Were decent enough dogs to fair but didn't suit what we were at at the time. 1 Quote Link to post
low plains drifter 10,463
The ones we had bred down from Irish Lady/ Chalkys Glider were canny, could turn them inside out, brilliant style to watch, don't think they were so good on the big fenland though for the longer lasting runs 3 Quote Link to post

tatsblisters 9,599
The old whippet man who i spoke to years ago told me the Irish terrier was a popular dog in working class communitys around Yorkshire back in the 20s and 30s no doubt brought over by the Irish navies and their familys and then crossed with whippets to produce a tougher and hardier dog for the rabbit coursing competitions. I remember a lad at Stocksbridge near Sheffield breeding some crossed with a whippet some years back and the one i saw was a handy little dog for mooching though being honest it was not as good for lamping as most lurcher to lurcher bred lurchers in the area were then again not many first crosses were. fred90 3,210
I like the dog jess Phillips has. three quarter smooth blue dog, looks like good dog. would fancy it put back to a whippet, only a eighth out cross but can still make a difference. Quote Link to post

You could see it in the original dog, but once I bred the pups they were more saluki lurcher with a different temperament to the sire, that's the old red dog, the bitch in the pic is no relation 7 Quote Link to post
