chartpolski 23,562
My eight year old grandson called me on face time last night, he was telling me that his mum gives him 100 riyals a week allowance, about £20 . I asked if he spends it or saves it and he told me it goes into a school “bank account” and the more that goes in the more interest he gets and the longer it’s in he gets compound interest ! I was taken aback that he knew such things, but his mum said it’s part of the maths lessons and designed to teach the kids financial responsibility ! This is at a private school, I never had anything like that when I was at school, I’d like to hope it’s being taught at comprehensives, but somehow I doubt it ! Cheers.

All my money went on Levi jeans and sta-press, Ben Sherman shirts, made to measure suits from Burtons and every gadget and gizmo I could get for my lambretta ! WILF 46,811
At school we got by with the normal stripping lead off church roofs or nicking it from the local builders merchant, copper and scrap from an abandoned Fisons chemical plant down the road etc etc Then I was waking along with my pal when he got lifted by the old bill, unknown to me he had blagged the local garage with a crossbow and made his getaway on a 50 special with the grand sum of about 200 bensons and £30 ! Last we saw of him for a couple of years and he was a basket case on the drugs when they let him out of Young offenders. Just shy of 15 and aimed out of school me and a pal who could drive used to go down a local wholesaler and buy kit to sell on the knocker, dusters, dishcloths, ironing board covers and all manner of similar nonsense. Out door to door every day with our nicked supermarket plastic bread baskets, all readies…..lovely job. I tell you something boys, you see some sights knocking on peoples doors all day ! Lol Also dug foundations by hand for builders when things was quiet…… All before 17 ! Lol f**k me, feel like I’ve lived a million years going on like that
