khan fight

Recommended Posts

Id have put my house on khan to win, and that was before i had seen who he was going to fight!

He has been fed spud after spud, its actually embarrassing. Boxing is so fixed that WWE is more genuine.

UFC is the future. As real as it gets.

As real as it gets ?....a soppy boys wrestler with no experience of fighting going against an ex world champion ?....i have every respect for mma and mma fighters, unfortunately the main body ( ufc ) are heading in the wrong direction for the sport and are promoting it in the wrong way....look at our cage rage over here,if thats not embarrassing i dont know what is !

Thank god frank mir beat lesnar the other night ...all them pathetic wwe lumps sitting round the cage with their pretty sun tans thinking if lesnar won it paves the way for more of the usual muggy yank nonsense....unfortunately the ufc have made a fighters image outside the ring almost as important as their ability inside it,just the same as that ridiculous wrestling...have a look at the twats in the audience with their pathetic ranting and cringe worthy shouting and hand gestures when the camera pans round...compare that to a knowledgable ringside audience at any domestic boxing show.....unfortunately it seems mma has become trendy and its the worst thing that could have happened, but then theres money to be made and a sport to sell so i suppose it was inevitable.

Im also glad mir beat lesnar-if he hadnt there would be the pretend wrestlers coming in droves to "prove" themselves but, and its a big but, lesnar would have won if the ref hadnt called time out to chastise for hitting the back of the head. He is a big strong bloke, and , with some bjj training could be a title - holder.

The pathetic ranting and shouting that you talk of is, im afraid, what the yanks do and isnt anything to do with the sport.

I was referring to the fighting , and that the facts are that boxing is fixed-period. as is WWE.

UFC isnt fixed.

Unfortunately mate its not just the yanks anymore.....go to a cage rage event or watch on tv the ufc,s that have been held in newcastle london or manchester.....the same pathetic ranting just a different accent and thats because probably 90 % of the spectators are there watching because its " trendy " and they have seen the way the yanks act on tv and feel they must do the same....you just dont get that type of crowd at domestic boxing.....you say its a " fact " that boxing is fixed, what would bring you to this conclusion the fact that amir khan hasnt been put in with top class opponents yet ?.....if we are talking of the word fix would it not strike you as strange that a fighter like lesnar can have a big fight like that having never had a fight before yet a boxer has to work his way up to the big fights ?

You really think lesnar would have won ? it was always going to be a matter of time before technical ability and knowledge would beat brute force with a fighter who has never had a fight,it just so happens it took 90 seconds instead of 30 seconds in my opinion.

Think we will need to agree to disagree on this.

IMO boxing is fixed. Khan has entered the pro boxing and has fought nothing but potatoes-agree? This is to supposedly enhance his reputation as a top fighter.

In MMA / UFC newcomers dont get such pampering. Vanderlay silva came from pride- dana could have gave him a load of nobodys to fight but he didnt he had to fight chuck liddell- an amazing fighter im sure you will agree.

Forrest griffin won the ultimate series and straight away he had to fight tito ortiz, a powerhouse and a great fighter. again , dana could have spoon fed him dummys but he didnt.

Just the other night, noguira could have been given a nugget to fight, followed by several others , in an attempt to make out he is better than he is- just like what would have happened in boxing- but he wasnt- he had to fight tim sylvia, 6ft8 and 2 times heavyweight champ.

I could really go on and on b ut i dont want to.

The glaring fact you are forgetting is that vanderlei silva, noguira etc etc have been at the top of the mma game virtually all their adult lives but when they first competed as beginners they fought nobodies....its only recent they have gone into ufc but they have a life long experience of the sport...amir khan has been a pro boxer for a couple of years and is not only a kid but is learning his trade the same as any pro athlete does at the start of their career, that cant be compared in any way to somebody who comes into ufc with an experienced background in the sport in their mid thirties like the examples you gave.

Tell me 1 succesful boxer ever in history who began his career and learned his trade by fighting top class fighters from the off ?...It just doesnt work like that just the same as vanderlei silva didnt walk into the sport of mma and fight chuck liddell he has been at the top of his game for many years......remember the ufc is just a brand name,a product...its not a sport...the sport is mma and in my opinion the ufc are taking the sport in the wrong direction and this recent lesnar fight went a long way in proving that.

The core of my discussion is that boxing is fixed. I know that, you know that-the old girl down the road knows that.UFC isnt.

MMA is exactly that- mixed martial arts.Be it boxing, wrestling, bjj, etc. It was brought together to see if a boxer could beat a wrestler, if karate trumped judo, muay thai trumped bjj. Wrestling was spoilt by the yanks obsession with "showing off", and as much as i despise its falseness- in mma a wrestler has just as much right to be in the octagon as any other discipline.

Ufc is a brand name, and dana is doing a great job in showcasing mma in my eyes. Yes , its getting glamourised, but thats always going to be the case-its all about money(it always will be). But until there comes a time where a "top" fighter only fights tosspots in an attempt to "big"him up and make him look invincible (ie boxing) , i will follow it.

Im not looking for an argument here, its just im passionate about mma.al

We,re not arguing mate i respect your views and have enjoyed reading them....however,to say that the richest and most watched sport in history is " fixed " needs a few facts to back the statement up with apart from amir khan not fighting top fighters while still learning his trade....try telling poor michael watsons family or poor gerald mclellands family or the countless others known and unknown who have suffered tragedies in the sport that really it was a " fix "...you are talking about a sport that standing next to boxing is litterally tiny in comparison, mma is still a small sport but as we know with it having become a " trendy " sport it is becoming popular, but it will never be on a par with boxing, not in our lifetime anyway.

You say about top fighters being " bigged up " to make them look invincible....if you fall for media sensationalism then im afraid thats your fault...the likes of amir khan are talented prospects no more no less, but the media as they like to do with everything else like to build them up to the general public...back years ago it didnt really happen...the likes of cooper, minter, mcguigan were unknown to anybody outside boxing until they fought for a title...thats just our media and the society we live in and you either choose to buy into it or ignore it and see how the fighter turns out once he is developed.

As for the ufc and pitting boxer against wrestler against bjj etc etc...dont forget that the ufc started out to see who would win a " fight "...it was simply called cage fighting, there were no rules,no weight divisions and no time limits....it got to a stage where a decision had to be made whether it would become pretty much underground or would it become a legitimate " sport "....to do this loads of rules were brought in,time limits weight divisions etc..to the point where it is no longer a " fight "....this was all done for money,tv coverage etc.....so when you talk about fixed...remember boxing has not changed in 100 years....ufc is almost unrecognisable to what it was 15 years ago.....all the best.
