Squirrel_Basher 17,100
First time out this season really .Now the shooting season has finished ,we are allowed full access to a couple of large local estates to have a go at the fox population.Started in an area of steep banking that held only badger by the foot prints in We went down to an artificial and bingo .Dog marked strong on the lead so netted up and slipped my mates little bitch underneath .Bow wow wow instantly and just as instantly a fox hit the furtest net .I lifted it up whilst another net was put on but only the one at home here .Shot it and let a few pups have a rag..On then to a large wood where there is another artificial and bingo again .Dogs were pulling on couples as we approached so netted up again and dog in .Bit of mixing and another fox reversed into the well set net Tailed that whilst the terrier was coupled up then my mate shot it .It was going well so we tried a large earth with my bitch .Sods law that we were 6 nets short but we stopped what we couldnt net .Never heard the bitch as this is a deep earth but a fox bolted from a far net and managed to shake it free and was off .A bit of cussing but it happens .On along this wood to another artificial and saw a rabbit slip in ?My bitch pulled hard on the couples so we netted up .She has never let me down on charlie so we slipped a dog in .Sure enough a bit of baying and a classic netted bolt completed our first day foxing with the terriers. Camera let me down on last fox with flat batteries . Smashing day but no digging Waiting while we net up ! The first and second fox with a few pups hanging on . Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
Great at this time of year isn't it! We've just started on the shoot land: had 2 this morning. Just what we need for the young stock coming on: nice quiet days with no pressure: letting them take their time and get used to it all. Good luck with the pups. Quote Link to post
