Dave Courtney dead

Recommended Posts

Many, many years ago I watched a thing on the telly and it was Courtney and a couple of other Herbert’s absolutely bullying the granny out of a couple of kids (bloke and his girlfriend) in some flat over unpaid rent or a small debt or some shit…..they absolutely terrified this young couple who from memory looked harmless enough, not skag head types.

Horrible f***ing b*****ds and that stuck with me, Courtney was probably earning hundred quid for it so it wasn’t like some big money transaction or a massive debt over something they should never have been involved in……just an ordinary young couple who had obviously got in a bit of bother financially.

I personally can’t stand c**ts like that but nice harmless bloke in company or not he came across as a liability and liability’s should always be avoided wether they a harmless or not……

Maybe he came to the realisation that he was a complete and utter melt ?    a big loss to British comedy

Its no secret that any genuinely active person within the fields he pretended to be in gave him a wide berth and avoided him like the plague but thats not to say he wasnt a funny character and in all

Personally I'm not interested who's got what or how much or how they have got it I have a good life now I can look after the kids and grand kids I don't drive high end motors but what I have I own and

I remember that mate and thought what a bunch of knunts. About the same time I had some mates in London who I used to do a bit of hunting with and mentioned the said program and they said the same and it was the first time I had heard the term plastic gangster.

A long time ago, A mate of mine sort of got involved in that debt collection thing, His first job was in the South West, He was shadowing two seasoned collectors. When they arrived it was a single mother with three kids. she only owed a few hundred quid. The two blokes started coming on with the hard talk, My mate had a change of heart and bundled the two outside and settled her debt himself, The job was not for him Lol,

Sounds like the old Provident loans....what sort of div would lend money to a bird and then send the boys round, she can just pick the phone up 😆........that collecting game only gets interesting when the debtor will not or cannot go to the police.

Yeah, but that probably involves dealing with a different type of person rather just some poor f****r who hit hard times and got in a bit of bother out of a decision made in desperation Id say.

I well remember the Provi tickets and the Provi women coming every week to collect the half a crown or whatever. I also remember the wasters who’d get a Provi and sell it in the bar for half price to buy tabs or beer.

And people think they are badly off now if they can’t get the latest iPhone ….
Cheers.

Iv just watched those clips of him 'debt collecting'. In one he's collecting from some old bloke who owes money to a betting shop. Now I know Wilf doesn't like people slagging off white dole dossers and old people (I'm joking Wilf keep your hair on) but even if he was an old biddy....you still got to pay your debts to a betting shop. The other clip is him evicting the 'terrified' young couple. One I'd say they were squatters and a jobs a job. And secondly the people who he was evicting never once looked at the camera or TV crew who had just come through the door.

I'd say those scenes, were, just like his life, one big act.

He was a complete Walter. But I don't mind that. I'm a bit of a whalloper myself. He was entertaining. Beyond that who knows, who cares

Especially when debt collectors usually take 25/50% of the debt, it has to be a substantial amount of money to justify a car full of lads to collect and not worth bothering with in reality for a couple of hundred quid, it was all for show
