Think of all the stabbings and knife crime in our cities, mostly kids of African or Asian background, they form gangs and prey on each other, just like the tribal behaviour their ancestors showed. I'm not sure I understand.  I meant that Wilf has moved to Ireland to escape the people or the descendants of people who were given British nationality when Britain took over the various commonwealth countries. 

Many feel that granting citizenship to so many people with different cultures and religions was a mistake and led to Rotherham  and Rochdale amongst  other things. But that was the decision at the time. So you can celebrate our former conquests and our former possessions like India, Pakistan and Jamaica. But with that nationalistic military pride also comes a lot of grim social problems. I repeat ordinary working class people did not get a share of the plunder.We got badly treated and it's us who now have to share our communities with the consequences of imperialism.

Humans are a strange bunch, governments pushing environmental policies to save the planet, shut the world down on the back of a poxy virus and do everything in our power to find a vaccine to save the human race. Invest billions in finding cures for diseases to keep us alive longer and and then we blow the shit out of one another over bits of land and religion.

And invest billions in ever more sophisticated weapons to keep ahead of other countries or to sell to ' suitable' countries. In some countries like the UK and The USA  the armaments sector is a major part of the economy.

I take your point but we elected the people who made those decisions and the cruncher here, the real cruncher is that we elected people who stopped us saying anything about it.

Britain wasn’t awash with these people pre 1947, so your point really don’t hold water.

So to say it’s a direct result of colonialism is in part true but it’s mostly just down to voters post 1947.

They could have been turned away if the political will was there.

As for we never got any benefit from colonialism, what did you want ? A royalty cheque ?

I think working people got a massive share .....that's why half the world wants to come here. If your prepared to graft here you can have anything you want and live a cracking life.
