What do undividual punters like us really know? We form opinions based on spin and lies peddled by news organisations  each with a set agenda.

With that proviso,I think the Palestinians have been shat on since the founding of Israel. The Israelis have treated the Palestinians with nazi like repression and broken agreements on land ownership. The Palestinians have retaliated with savagery.

It just shows how this “it’s all our fault” ideology is pervasive, there was a time when we understood the meaning of retaliation, the bloke with the biggest stick won ! 

Now it’s all “oh, well, can’t blame them because we was nasty once” and “well what have we done to offend them” 

The yids hold no such nonsense views in their heads after watching 3 generations get put in ovens a little over 70 years ago, if you want to f**k with them then you are having it !

It would be easier to cure cancer than to solve “the Middle East problem” !

But to say “nothing to do with us, guv” isn’t correct.

It all started when we defeated the Ottoman Empire in WW1 who controlled most of the Middle East including Palestine.

This lead to the British Palestinian Mandate, then the Sykes-Picot agreement and then the Balfour declaration, which shaped the modern Middle East and lead to the formation of the Jewish state of Israel.

Yes, a long time ago, and we were probably the worlds pre-eminent power then, but in the 50’s we started the retreat from “east of suez “ and left them mainly to it !

We didn’t fully leave the area until the 70’s when we gave independence to the Trucial States, now countries like Oman , Bahrain, Qatar, etc. 

But we had a lot of fingers in a lot of Middle East pies for many years !

While I agree with most of that I disagree with the last paragraph. I'd say the yids are just as bad and I'd level both sides.

I agree, the trouble as I see it is that troops get sent places with this wishy, washy “can’t hurt anyones feelings” mission plan because that’s how politicians think when really they should just pick a side and let the soldiers do their thing !

I don’t hold any love (or malice for that matter) towards the yids, they were the Muslims of the early 20th century, but in This particular instance I’ll take the yids over Hamas and their ilk any day of the week and I hope the yids wipe them fuckers out !

Why should we try and solve it mate ?

As far as I can see (and I’ll bow to your years of experience and actual on the ground knowledge) the Arab world is tribal and feudal and the bloke with the biggest stick is in charge….it’s their way so why try and solve it ?

Maybe they don’t want it solved ?……maybe that’s the way they have done it for thousands of years and that the way they will continue to do it, what business is it if ours as long as they are only slaughtering each other ?

That why it didn’t make sense to do in Saddam Hussien the second time of asking as far as I’m concerned, we put him back in his box the first time and he kept all his own shit in order in his own land from then on just as he had always done……then we create a vacuum by removing the man with the biggest stick and not allowing anyone to inherit that stick and it’s carnage ? 
 

As I say, you’d have top trumps when it comes to the Arab world but it’s just how I view it from afar.
